  • Light brown skin
  • Tan/goldenrod colored fur on ears and tail
  • Scars all across body, most notably across left eye and across the bridge of his nose
  • Right eye is scarred shut and always covered with an eye patch
  • 5 piercings per ear; all lower
  • Sharp canines and clawed nails
  • Usually mildly unshaven

Clothing Style

Kotoata tends to dress very simply and doesn't put a lot of effort into his outfits, since his joint and muscle pain make it difficult to put on clothing at times. He is most commonly wears some kind of black top with black pants and then his usual red cloak. His arms and legs have a lot of straps around them, and he has similar ones around his chest under his shirt as well. More notably he wears braces around his knees, and his choice of footwear is usually a pair of black boots with similar straps. He has stated that his physical condition before becoming a Kiami spirit along with the fact that he is a spirit of Deyth has a lot to do with his current state of having severe joint and muscle problems, and the many braces and straps are to help stabilize him and apparently "keep his body together better," since his Deyth rifting often takes a toll on his flesh. Kotoata is never seen without almost his entire body covered, since he claims he's not very pretty to look at and he may very well fall apart otherwise.

His accessories are relatively minimal, with him usually wearing the same ones all the time. His black eye patch is obviously a signature item, and he always wears a necklace with a black nail attached. His earrings are usually gold or sometimes red or black, and he usually wears a small leather band around the end of his tail.

Personality

Kotoata is an easygoing and mellow man who takes each day slowly and remembers to savor each moment of it. In his spirit form he tends to wander gradually through Kiami and gathers up the lingering souls of the departed to escort them to their appropriate destination, and he is seen as a gentle and peaceful guide to the afterlife by the denizens of Kiami. In his humanoid form, he is very slow moving and tends to stay in one location for as long as possible, since moving causes him a great deal of pain. His peers know him to be kind and rather frail, so they tend to be very delicate around him and often help him accomplish small tasks or even move to other locations when needed. Kotoata is commonly seen lost in thought in the gardens of the Kiami Fortress, and he frequently daydreams and reminiscences about the past, usually in some attempt to remember hazy memories lost to time. He always seems to keep an uplifting demeanor and is always willing to lend an ear or offer advice, and although he's very mellow, he can also be very chatty if you give him the time considering how much he loves company. Even though he doesn't look terribly old, he certainly has the vibe of a cheery old grandpa who likes telling stories and reminding people to stop and smell the roses. Mostly because Kocetia works hard at gardening and he wants people to appreciate her work, so you better smell them right now.

Abilities

  • Deyth rifting - lesser deity rank
  • Spiritual form that can fly, teleport, and become invisible/intangible at will
  • Mastery over all disciplines of Kiamian magic
  • Shapeshifting into a humanoid form (spirit is normal form)
    • It takes him a while to remember it, but he is also capable of shapeshifting into a lion; this lion is nearly skeletal though

Strengths

  • Level headed, down to earth, and patient
  • Observant, commits things to memory easily, and charismatic
  • Eloquent, a good listener, and easy to approach
  • Wise, loyal, and compassionate

Weaknesses

  • Suffers from body pains and often has trouble walking or moving for too long
  • His physical pain and rifting tend to burn energy quickly, so he is often lethargic and sleeps frequently
  • Extremely sentimental and tends to get lost in thought, especially when trying to think about his hazy past
  • His missing eye interferes with his depth perception, so he heavily relies on his hearing and sense of smell

Backstory

Kotoata has little memory of the person he used to be before he committed herself to Kiami as the Spirit of Deyth. He isn't even sure why he can't remember much of his past, but he is certain he once led a life somewhere other than Kiami as a mortal Feela and that his name was once Shal'diz RegalFang. He's certain he was once part of a clan of lion Feela and had a mate named Shaz'dae, but he doesn't remember how he got to Kiami or why he committed to be a spirit, although he knows his resolve on the matter was strong and hasn't faded even if his motives are unknown to him now. He is also fairly certain that his mortal form was horribly mangled shortly before he became a spirit, so it is likely he did so since he wouldn't have lived long otherwise. The king of Kiami, Kiema, has reassured him that his mortal injuries came about from standing up against enemies of Kiami, and he became a spirit due to his noble sacrifice.

He cooperates with the other spirits to protect Kiami from any threats, such as the sudden invasion from the devastated planet of Lynixth led by the Demriles. Kotoata has had particular issues with this invasion due to his connection to Deyth rifting, and the dark forces seek to use his powers to add to their own.

Trivia:

  • Kotoata's mortal name and his mate's name came from two Shinx I had in Pokemon Pearl, named Shal'diz and Shaz'dae. I don't remember why I named them that, but oh well. It happened. It also contributed to Kotoata's humanoid form being feline-based.
  • Although Deyth rifters are commonly regarded as frightening or even evil, Kotoata is viewed as a peaceful and gentle spirit by those of Kiami. He was a Deyth rifter when Lady Yashana was more present in the young Eternity, and Kotoata carefully gathers the souls of the departed on Kiami and escorts them to their appropriate destination, whether that be Yashanarika or the Last Lands. During the First War, Kotoata worked to gather up departed souls to prevent them from falling into Shana's control and increasing her power.
  • Kotoata is best friends with Kocetia, and he ends up rambling on with her for ages when she's tending to the gardens. He is also very close with Kaleena, and she always makes a point to entertain him and do things for him since it's difficult for him to move around.
