Background
Born into some noble family in some kingdom in the holy roman empire in 1700s. Details are unclear as of now. Went to study in Paris, where he met Augustin and they both got involved in the revolution - which they eventually fled.

They started working on research on immortality together, and eventually followed a lead regarding sun worship. Following this too deep too fast, things got out of control. Augustin lived and got what they wanted; Max did not. He was killed in the process, as part of the ritual they were doing. However, having a particularly strong emotional tie with death (being horribly afraid of dying), allowed him to form a sort of deal with death, allowing him to evade it in return of service of some kind.

Pretty pissed at Augustin, to say the least. Plotting some sort of revenge most likely.

Personality
Ambitious, hard working, patient and very meticulous, almost obsessively so - very much a perfectionist. Reserved and private, but friendly. Kinda arrogant, kinda self-rightous. Very private and observant. Pretty timid, not very charismatic, tends to stutter when nervous, or alternatively, very excited. Was ironically terrified of death.
