Clare

Clare's life in the Greed Layer was one of constant work. She would spend most of her time scavenging the outskirts of the village in search of materials. The deserts here were unique in that no matter where you searched you could always found something useful, something that Clare would take advantage of in that she never needed to stray too far from her home. Most of the materials that Clare looked out for was metals to make mechanical objects. Dealing with mechanics was (and still is) something she loved to do and it was something she could easily sell to make a living.

She likely would've had a lot more money saved up if she didn't care so much about her appearance. The Husk type that she is originates from the Greed Layer and what makes them different from other Husk types is their skin. It's delicate and sensitive to the strong sun rays in Greed. So much so that over time it melts off leaving the these Husks just a skeleton, that is unless they use sunscreen. The price and demand for it is high, Clare spends a lot of her savings on sunscreen to keep her skin the way it is.

Between buying things necessary for life daily life and sunscreen to prevent herself from becoming a full skeleton she never had enough time or money to do much else than work. It was an endless cycle, and Clare felt she was trapped in it with no hope of escape. As depressing as it was there was one thing that brought her joy overall, and that was making mechanical things. While she hardly ever had time to experiment creatively she still enjoyed the process and it was the one thing she looked forward to doing every day.

Life continued as usual, that is until she met a Streetcleaner robot named Matthew. Normally Clare would keep to herself and would only socialize when she was selling things, Matthew was different though. He was asking her questions about where to get materials for machines. While usually Clare is shy when talking to strangers, but when it comes to talking about mechanics she's happy to ramble on about it. In their conversation Clare found they both had a strong interest in the topic, Matthew told her how he was starting up a Machine Repair Shop in the Lust Layer City and he came here to Greed in search of things to help him start up. Buying the materials you need is expensive, something that Clare knew the people here in Greed would nickel and dime him until he had nothing left. It crossed her mind she could use this to her advantage, selling things to him at a slightly cheaper price to get repeat customer, but she also had another idea... she made an offer to Matthew for him to come join her during her scavenging trip. Having him join her would be extra hands to get more materials per trip, Clare would split the findings and in turn has a partner who could help her go out farther in the desert than she could safely do on her own and get even rarer materials.
