Jeremy Thompson
Is collecting driftwood at the beach to carve later.
Jeremy is a main character in a slice-of-life story of mine, with him being Andy and Cody's childhood best friend. This freckled lad is a reserved and withdrawn person who distances himself from other people. He usually spends his time alone observing others from afar instead of actually interacting with them. Even when with his loved ones he prefers keeping to himself.
When alone with people he genuinely likes, he doesn't really change that much. He's more talkative and might let himself goof off, but he refuses to let his guard down around anyone. The only time he will let himself be vulnerable is when he's completely isolated or alone with Andy and Cody, which are the only people he completely trusts. If anyone dares to go after those two orphaned brothers for whatever reason, Jeremy will show no hesitation in using violence to send a message, and will always go overboard.
He's proudly and fiercely protective of his loved ones and is downright fearless when ready to defend them. He has a confrontational history of calling people out on their crap, as he has no desire to fit in or be well-liked. The only thing he's afraid of doing is hurting people who don't deserve it.

Childhood
Jeremy was born and brought up in a farmhouse out in the countryside, with his parents raising livestock for a living. His parents were more abusive towards each other than him, however, they were neglectful and very toxic people. They didn’t care about their son’s well-being at all, which gave him a lot of freedom but no love. In school his peers ostracized him for being poor and neglected, having really crooked teeth, having a hillbilly accent, and struggling to read and write properly. He was considered extremely stupid.
When on his own since Jeremy had no friends, a group of boys his age would shove him in trash cans or dump garbage all over him. They'd break his stuff, push him in mud puddles, and beat the devil out of him. With all this mistreatment thrown his way, Jeremy was miserable and suicidal.
New Friends
The day Jeremy met Andy and Cody for the first time was the day he was planning on ending his life. His bullies chased him down after school and began harrassing him, when a large teen came in and battered them all to a pulp. With all the punks running away while crying, Jeremy got helped up and comforted. A lanky little kid also gathered his stuff before handing it to him. These unfamiliar fellows asked Jeremy if he could show them around, and the three of them hung out all day.
These brothers were Andy and Cody, who had moved to this small town since they finally got fostered. Since that day, Andy scared off approaching thugs and protected Jeremy at all costs. Cody was battling cancer at the time, yet had it in him to be very brotherly and a good friend to Jeremy. They invited him to their foster family's house and played video games with him, which sparked their friendship. Years later, all three of them are still extremely close.

Survival Expert
Jeremy is very knowledgeable about living outdoors and being in the wilderness. He can forage for berries and mushrooms, hunt wildlife, and knows the species of a lot of plants and animals. He'd be on a survival show if he wasn't so camera-shy. He's also pretty knowledgeable about the ins and outs of his town; from the interiors of every downtown store to the tips of mountains surrounding the coastal region. .
Fighter
Since high school, older kids would jump him and start stereotypical bar fights with him until he finally fought back. By the time he was fifteen years old, he had taught himself how to properly fight in a one-on-one so that he could protect himself and his best friend Cody. He's strong, agile, and incredibly fast when pumped up with adrenaline.
Woodworker
He's always been a fan of the art of carving or shaping wood with his pocket knives. He's made a variety of small, detailed, cool objects that range from animals to necklaces. Around the time him and Andy were becoming friends, he witnessed the big guy reading a Bible and carved out a cross necklace for him. Andy still wears that special gift around his neck to this day. Jeremy's also good at pottery and shaping metal.
Country Boy
Growing up on a farm that has raised chickens, pigs, sheep, and cows, he's very experienced in looking after livestock in general. He's been taught how to fish, hunt, go camping, live in the woods, and more. He also knows how to butcher, clean up, and package meat from said livestock, which was always something he loathed doing. He's also knowledgable about horses, since his cousin Julie and her family own a few.
Flaws
Defensive
The lifelong buildup of humiliation he's received caused him to now be an aloof and detached man. His desire to be accepted by society was long gone and instead replaced with intense bitterness. He's scared to grow close with others and will always try to act tough.
Violent
In his teens, this dude's injured a lot of guys who were smaller and weaker than him, which tainted his consciousness a bit. He's also enjoyed using that nail bat of his to either scare or severely harm the folks that dared to pick on him and his buddies.
Habitual
Jeremy's struggled with his addiction to cigarettes since his mother peer-pressured him into smoking one with her. His voice is fairly deep and raspy due to this habit, and getting off of them has been his primary goal but biggest obstacle.
Selfless
Jeremy has no sense of self-love, self-care, and self-worth. He is far too selfless while harmful to his own body and self-esteem. He acts like it’s no big deal when he gets beaten to a pulp or is severely injured, even teasing his loved ones for worrying so much.
