About

To say her time in high school was stressful is a bit of an understatement, as she had a child, got married, and was widowed all in the span of a few years. Her life was “fine” up until her early teens when her father moved their family to Philadelphia for work. Attention was immediately upon her, both as the new girl in school, and for her unusual all-black manner of dress. She was often teased or talked about behind her back, with the exception of one seemingly sweet boy in band class who befriended her. She wasn’t used to anyone being so nice to her. And though she originally saw him as merely a friend she allowed her appreciation for that kindness to cloud her judgement and they grew closer, one thing led to another, and she wound up pregnant at 15, and a parent by 16. Any friendship they once had quickly dissolved during her pregnancy, after she voiced her concerns and expectations of him, but their parents forced them to do the “right thing” and get married anyway. Unable to take the ridicule and finger-pointing from her classmates anymore, once word got around of her condition, she chose to drop out of school completely.

Once her son was born he was raised mostly by her and her parents, with little involvement from the father. After he finished high school and was convinced to join the army she had a slight hope he might come home a better, more mature man who would finally be involved in his son’s life. But after he was instead killed in action she was left to continue raising him as a single mother. At his funeral she was stoic and hardly shed a tear for him, accused of not caring at all (and perhaps even being glad he was dead.) Truthfully, thoughts of everything that had happened, and everything she would now have to face on her own, weighed so heavily on her that she was left in a catatonic state. Eventually, she moved out of her parent's house with Donovan, doing the best she could for him, all by herself.

Personality

Her personality matches her outward appearance, she is just as "dark", sad, and morbid as she appears to be, and rarely ever smiles. Her sense of humor, subtle as it is, is very dark as well, and she's very interested in all things related to death, the occult, and anything one might consider "creepy", and she likes to talk about these things often. She has always been very mature for her age, never showing much interest in playing, toys, or other "childish" things. She is extremely blunt and doesn't care if she hurts anyone's feelings with her brutal honesty, usually feeling like they deserved it. In general, she's just plain mean, though one could say the way other kids treated her kind of led her to become this way. Despite all his, she really does have a big heart underneath it all, and cares deeply for those closest to her. Though she doesn't often express it in words, she'll show her affection through little acts of kindness and gifts.

It's predictable, but she really does have a Raven from Teen Titans type of voice. XD It's usually deadpan (unless she's super upset), a little monotone, and kind of raspy. She has a slight southern accent, which she tries to hide, but it still tends to slip out sometimes.

Appearance

Hair: Naturally a medium brown color, always dyed black. It's very long, reaching to about her waist, and cut straight across. She has short bangs and her hair is parted in the middle. She styles it in a variety of ways: sometimes just leaving it loose, tying it up in a bun, putting it back in a braid/french braid, etc.

Eyes: Dark blue, kind of almond-shaped, usually appearing to be only half open

Build: Quite thin, "willowy" and without noticeable curves. She has a fairly large chest however, (and doesn't like attention drawn to it.)

Scars/Body Modifications/Other distinguishing features: One earring in each lobe

Clothing: Though the "goth" style as we know it didn't exist yet in the 40's, it's the easiest way to describe it. She wears only dresses and nothing but black (with occasional touches of white or red.) Victorian Era dresses are her favorite, but she will wear modern styles as well. She also often carries a parasol when outside.

Trivia

• Though Donovan was completely unwanted and an accident, (and truthfully, she may have terminated the pregnancy, had the option been available to her) she quickly grew to love him very much after he was born!
• After her husband passes away she never again remarries or even dates anymore, as their relationship only happened because she was young and still figuring things out. Once she's grown up she's certain she wants to be left tf alone lol.
• She is a very skilled cellist, and ends up playing professionally and giving lessons as an adult
• Her parasol isn't just for looks, she actually sunburns very easily and carries it to to protect her sensitive skin
• Only child, just like Donovan
• In case it's hard to tell, she is wearing black lipstick on her upper lip only.
