Latticino is constantly anxious about whatever they do, whether it is during their job, free time, or even when doing nothing.  He feels the constant need to prove his worth and “contribute” to others’ lives, which interfered with his ability to build healthy relationships until after he met Azcesius.  He spends most of his time gardening.

In order to preserve the beauties of nature, a town of humans banded together to create a community greenhouse, full of fruit trees and rare flowers.  Each person helped out at the greenhouse at first, but as humanity’s condition got worse, more and more people moved away; even more humans passed on.  Latticino was created to care for the greenhouse when less than twenty people were left in the town.  In the end, it was just Latticino and another young human left.  Their name was Merity.

After their elder brother passed away, Merity’s parents decided to leave for a larger town and gave them the ultimatum to inherit the family business or be left behind.  Merity chose to stay and went to live in the greenhouse, where they became fond of the Karurium there, giving him the name “Latticino”.  Over time, Merity grew more angry and distressed; unbeknownst to both of them, Merity was suffering from severe, long-term carbon monoxide poisoning.  One night, Merity tried to stab Latticino with a garden trowel, but a massive explosion caused by a buildup of carbon monoxide in the greenhouse killed Merity and started a fire.

Before the fire consumed the greenhouse and town, Latticino was picked up and saved by Azcesius, who was on the way to the city of Elisium.  Eventually, Latticino started a new garden and greenhouse with a few other Karuriums in the community, acting as its main caretaker.
