Katherine is usually calm and plays the role of the responsible “mom friend” in her friend groups, which she doesn’t mind.  However, she is easily irritated by overbearing and clingy people, so she keeps an emotional distance from others.  She prefers to talk about her problems to animals, since they just listen to her; they need her more than she needs them.  No matter what, she helps others that need her help, animals or Karu.

Named after a late beloved doctor of a field hospital, Katherine helped with the distribution of supplies and medications to humans in need.  She also monitored sickly humans and in worst-case scenarios, assisted with euthanasia procedures.  After the spread of an illness that ate away at human limbs, Katherine was tasked with “containment of the illness” through isolating those that were sick.  She ended up as the only one that could be around these humans, who confessed their worries and loneliness to her.  Eventually, everyone either left or passed away, leaving Katherine with the burden of those memories.  Katherine continued to help other Karus and became a veterinarian to help animals.

Katherine says she likes helping others to make everyone’s lives easier and happier, but she never admitted that she has felt lonely and unneeded since the fall of humanity.  The only Karus that have realized and confronted her about it were Azcesius and Adeney.  Their antagonization made her wary of their motives for helping others.
