ABOUT

NAME Wyatt Dezi Fischer

NICKNAME Dez

PRONOUNS he/him

AGE 22

RACE/SPECIES Octoling

GENDER Male

ORIENTATION Bisexual

BIRTHDAY December 4th

WEAPON E-Liter 4K

JOB N/A

A small, timid Octoling who's trying his best! He's come a long way and he still might appear harmless and weak to some, but he'll kick your ass by sniping you from across the map. Shoutout to that "Wibbly-Wobbly E-Liter 4K User." He's fragile as hell and got kicked out the army but at least he can carry your team in any game mode.

LIKES

Beaches, free samples, Toni Kensa, Annaki, sweaters/cardigans, farmer’s markets, long-range weapons, hugs, and hot showers.

DISLIKES

Crowds, being approached from behind, his eye color, Radian, summer, nighttime, ranked modes, and fog.

STORY MENTIONS

  • Aftershock — Chapter 2
    • Westley can't find a way to cope after Stewart disappears, driving him to move to Splatsville with Wyatt.

HOBBIES

Cooking (or at least trying to), collecting clothes and stickers, accessorizing weapons, and spectating/studying battles.

DESIGN NOTES

  • Because he's very skinny and frail, he wears oversized/flowy clothes to distract from it
  • Usually wears heeled boots so he's the same height as his friends
  • Used to have a regular mohawk but now he curls his tentacle into a pompadour
  • He usually wears black and red accents to match his eyes (Alaias loves it)

PERSONALITY

He’s quiet and from far away appears clueless or shy, but when he’s with his friends, his personality does a 180. He’s energetic and outgoing around the right people, though he has trouble opening up. Usually, he prefers solitude, as he is highly independent and doesn’t like feeding off of other people. Asking for help makes him feel weak, and he would much rather support other people than have it reciprocated. While he seems closed off, he’s highly emotional and is easily flustered. He struggles to stop crying after starting and can’t hide when he’s upset about something, but he loves being the personal cheerleader for his friends.

BACKSTORY

While growing up, Wyatt and his family were very poor, hence food was a struggle every week and the same went for clothes every season. Most of his outfits as a child were hand-me-downs as he was the youngest sibling of 3. He was often teased at school, and everyone had something to say about his appearance, actions, and his domestic issues. It also didn’t help that he suffered from genetic ailments that left him either in the hospital for many days or frequently sent to the nurse’s office since his parents didn’t have good insurance.

As a child, he was diagnosed with Nyctalopia (night blindness) and a minor case of Osteogenesis, which for his species means the cartilage and high-pressured ink he is made of is delicate and subpar, making him more prone to fractures and injuries.

Despite this, he joined the Octarian army at 16, dreaming of gaining a fresh start and supporting his family. However, he was discharged after a year when the officials realized he physically couldn’t meet the training requirements. He tried to return home, but his family had gotten used to his absence and couldn’t take him back in.

With no other option, he found his way to Inkopolis and moved into a small apartment, paying rent using the money he gained from winning turf wars. He only uses an E-Liter 4K his father got for him years ago since he’s more efficient on the sidelines. He lived alone for many years until he noticed his peers flocking to Splatsville and asked Raviyoli if he’d like to be his roommate, to which the sudden loner, abandoned by his former best friend, happily agreed.

On the surface, it seemed like Wyatt had an easy time finding and settling in Inkopolis, though he could never catch a break. Many of his old classmates had it out for him after hearing he was discharged and sought to torment him, and because he had few starting funds, he often went hungry. Once in the city, he started indulging in turf wars to save for a home and would sleep in hotels or outside in the meantime. The only place he could afford was a small dorm-like apartment on a sketchy side of town, and none of his neighbors were fans of him.

Due to his limited vision, he was afraid to be out at night but often battled from sunup to sundown. One night, unaware of his surroundings, he walked in between a bar fight in a nearby alley. The men immediately jumped him, and while he tried to defend himself and escape, the impact resulted in him breaking his ankle.

The Octoling eventually gave up, assuming they would leave him to die, though Alaias, a frequenter at the bar, ran in and beat the life out of them. The hybrid would spend many nights out drinking since he looked older than his age and was never carded. While he often instigated bar fights, he never involved spectators and had a previous grudge against the four guys attacking Wyatt. He feared Alaias was planning to land the final blow on him, but to his surprise, carried him to safety after examining his injuries.

Alaias took him to urgent care where they tended to his wounds, and despite being strangers, Wyatt clung to him the entire time as he continued to panic. However, the boy eventually calmed down, and Alaias returned him to his apartment. Though they never exchanged numbers or much information about themselves, Alaias would visit him twice a week until he healed.

While Wyatt preferred to take care of himself, he secretly liked being pampered as he now lived alone, and as a kid, his parents could never give him much attention, although they tried. And though Alaias was closed-off, he kept finding reasons to see him again, which brought them closer.

Wyatt's attackers were arrested, and after recovering after two months, the hybrid took him out for drinks. Of course, they had become good friends during the eight weeks, but the Octoling was a lightweight, and Alaias had to carry him home (again). Under the influence, he thanked him for his help which had been done earlier in the night but also decided to trust his gut and ask if he could kiss Alaias. He hadn’t been in a relationship since being discharged, and after seeing the hybrid for so many days on end, he couldn’t get the thought out of his head.

Alaias happily agreed, but the Octoling continued to ramble, forgetting about his request, and the two eventually passed out on his couch. Alaias had assumed the boy had still forgotten the next morning, but despite how hungover they were, Wyatt kissed him before he let him leave his apartment.

The Octoling was worried his crush wouldn’t visit anymore now that he had recovered and no longer needed to be babysat. Of course, Alaias promised he wouldn’t stop checking on him and would be happy to stay the night again and not just get drunk and pass out. Inadvertently, Alaias’ support gave Wyatt more hope, and he eventually saved enough money to buy a nicer apartment and even furnish it. The complex he moved into was the same as the Raviolis, and since they were neighbors, he quickly befriended them. Still, because he knew Alaias first in more ways than one, he's always been his favorite person.
