My name is Jeongmin Kang. I was chosen by the Archangel Sariel to be his acting avatar on Earth. My title is the Guardian. I'm sure you've read all the press releases. I battled the Arbiter, helped saved some people, and now I'm a part-time member of the New Avengers. My real work starts when I take the armor off. Without Sariel's armor, I'm Detective Kang with the NYPD Major Crimes unit. I work hard to protect my community against those threats that the supers don't always notice. If the only thing standing between this city and oblivion is me, NYC can count on me. After all, I am The Guardian.

Jeongmin was taught by his mother to be fluent in Mandarin Chinese, which makes him trilingual. He speaks English, Korean, and Madarin Chinese.

He is attempting to learn Spanish but has not spent much time on it and he's grown terrified of the Duolingo owl.

Jeongmin only sleeps 4-5 hours a day, but because of Sariel's blessing he feels no adverse effects, and is annoyingly chipper in the mornings.

Jeongmin is the first of Elim's OCs to be canonly descended from a previous OC, but because Elim wants to have all his OCs existing in one generation, Jeongmin tends to get timelooped and memory wiped to make it work.

Angelic Empowerment

Jeongmin is one of the Ishim, a chosen avatar of an Archangel. These Archangels are vassals to Yahweh, an aspect of "The Light", also known as the Enigma Force. As the avatar of Sariel, the Archangel of Protection, Jeongmin's title is the Guardian.

As one of the Emissaries of Light, he is dutybound to seek out and fight the corruption of the Void.

Sariel has been Jeongmin's guardian angel since his youth, and has blessed him with great physical strength, durability, and constitution. Jeongmin is immune to most contagious diseases and his metabolic needs are less than most.

Superhuman Physical Abilities

When channeling Sariel, Jeongmin's physical attributes are enhanced to superhuman levels. His strength is greatly increased and he is highly resistant to impact damage.

In addition, the Guardian is automatically covered with a set of holy white armor with a durability is almost admantine level. It can easily withstand even high caliber bullets and incidiary ammunition.

Winged Flight

The Guardian (usually) has two large wings that are white and feathered in appearance. These wings give him the power of flight, and he is capable flying at speeds comparable to a jet plane. When feathers are plucked from his wings they dissipate in moments. His wings are extremely tough and resistant to damage, and he can use them to shield himself and others from attacks. He can also exert great power with his wings and use them to deliver powerful blows at his enemies.

His wings give him great speed and aerial maneurability, but impedes his agility in tight spaces and on the ground.

Weapons of Light

Guardian can generate light and imbue it with heat and kinetic force, which he can use both offensively in the form of blasts and beams, or defensively by creating light walls and shields. He can finetune the power of these blasts, making them nonlethal to stun, or scale them to melt through metal or break through walls.

He can also manifest the energy into a physical form and is most often seen wielding a sword and shield seemingly made of light. The manifested weapons are powerful and nigh indestructible by most physical forms of damage.

After Jeongmin was involved in a car accident as a child, he became protected by Archangel Sariel, who later chose him to become his avatar when the avatar of another Archangel, Raquel, became uncontrollable.

Known Weaknesses

UMBRAKINESES - Guardian's photokinesis naturally counters and is countered by umbra. He is able to generate his own light, but his powers become weakened when he is immersed in total darkness.

ANGELIC SEVERANCE - Like other Angels, Guardian loses his powers when his wings are cut off. If his wings are cut away, he would permanently lose his connection to Sariel and return to his human form not long after.

An Unusual Orphan

Waking from a devastating crash, a boy opens his eyes and sees a mysterious white bird... after touching it, his injuries are healed, but he can't remember anything about his past, including his own name and even his parents who died in the crash with him. Fortunately, he's identified as Jeongmin and taken in by a kindly old lady named Jojo, who fully adopts him not long after. But there's something different about Jeongmin. He's not like the other kids. He's so much stronger and faster than them. Jojo has no idea how this happened, but she feels certain of one thing: for some reason, Jeongmin has been chosen. But for what purpose... she doesn't know. All she can hope to do is guide him onto the right path so that he will one day know how to use his powers for good.

Humans are such easy prey

Detective Jeongmin Kang of the NYPD is starting to believe that there's something off about the cannibalistic serial killer of NYC. Ever since his primary suspect disappeared without a trace, the distinctive pattern of the serial killer has been... off. But with few in his department willing to back up his suspicions, Jeongmin turns to new local superhero Hazard for help gathering information for the case.

It seems to be working well in the beginning, but suddenly, the case is starting to progress just a little too smoothly. Normally this should be good news, but Jeongmin's intuition just keeps telling him that they're making a terrible mistake. But the only person with any sort of motivation to tamper with the case is... Hazard? Can this 'superhero' really be trusted? Will Jeongmin find out the truth before its too late?

The Guardian Arises

Divine Retribution

Though the duplicitous Hazard has mysteriously vanished, Jeongmin's troubles with errant superheroes seems to just be beginning. Shocking footage has surfaced of the powerful and angellic Arbiter seemingly razing a casino to the ground mercilessly and without explanation. After the police manage to corner the Arbiter, he claims he was given the Sword of Raquel to enact Archangel Raquel's will on Earth. The Arbiter has been driven mad by the Sword's desire for absolute justice, and now he thinks that humanity is beyond redemption. Armed with the Sword of Raquel, the Arbiter is nigh untouchable, and he won't stop until all of New York is in ruins.

Avenging Angel

The Avengers are extremely interested in the newest Emissary of Light... and extremely concerned after the Arbiter's rampage. As for Jeongmin, he was initiated in the heat of battle, and it seems even the Avengers know more about his new powers than he does. He's grateful he was given the power to stop the Arbiter... but the young detective is more than a little conflicted about what this means for his future as he struggles to navigate this new world of wanton vigilantism, publicity politics, and hot-headed heroes.
