MISHKA

ABOUT

NAME   Mishka

NATIONALITY   Russian

NICKNAME(S)

SPECIES   Teddy bear

AGE  60+

HEIGHT Flexible

GENDER Male (he/him)

STATUS Forever homed

LIKES

  • His hat
  • Being left alone
  • Watching movies
  • Having books read to him
  • Learning languages

DISLIKES

  • Being hugged
  • People who talk too much
  • When people touch or move his stuff
  • Gum and other sticky things (especially getting it stuck on his plush)
  • Falling over or being clumsy (he gets embarrassed so don't pay attention to him)

TRIVIA

  • Mishka has a partially functioning growler in his abdomen that makes noise when he's flipped sometimes, but he doesn't like when people flip him to hear it
  • He loves movies and although he'll settle for pretty much anything, he especially enjoys weird or foreign ones from the 1960s–80s
  • He pretends that he doesn't like excitable 2000s pop music, but he actually does (he would definitely have a secret playlist if teddy bears could use cellphones)
  • Even though he acts like he'll die if he's not wearing his hat, he only started wearing one in 1991 (the year his hat his from)—imagine how naked he must feel when he sees old photos of himself from pre-1991

DESIGN NOTES

  • His hat is preferably not optional; if you don't draw it on him, I'd like it to at least be drawn with him
  • He has no irises and his eyes are off-white, not solid white (unless that is a stylistic choice of yours)
  • He does not have a tail—any drawings of him with a little tail are old and outdated
  • If you draw him without his hat, please don't forget the tear in his right ear
  • His tongue and mouth are blue like the fluffy part of his hat

PERSONALITY

Mishka, the teddy bear with an unoriginal name, is a Russian teddy bear manufactured in the Soviet Union sometime in the 1960s. His manufacturer is unknown, but he doesn't care. He doesn't care about much, really. When it comes to materials, he's much cuddlier than his other vintage teddy counterparts, but he's not really into the whole hugging thing—even though he looks adorable. Mishka has a partially functional growler in his belly that works if someone shakes or hits him, but that's ... not recommended—for your safety. He's sometimes grumpy, often moody, but that works for Mykyta because she's also moody; they compliment each other well, even if Mykyta gives him more cuddles than he'd like. Mishka has only had his ushanka since 1991 and he never takes it off. Please note that his age is based on the date he was manufactured, not his mental and/or physical age.
