If someone were to describe Buttercup in a few words, they would call her the most unlikely yet understandable leader they've ever met. She's a bright, creative, and easily-inspired young soul who wanders in her own thoughts more than she'd like to admit.

She almost always seems to have a smile on her face and an idea in her head. She usually lets her emotions and feelings in the moment lead her choices and actions, leading her to be quite the improviser overall. She has difficulty sticking to a singular plan most of the time, and is most comfortable coming up with things as ideas come to her. She is very familiar and fond of daydreaming, usually wandering off into some type of inner fantasy in order to channel her creativity. Most would say that she tends to have her head in the clouds, often wandering between thoughts in a disorganized yet effective sort of way. However, when she's "down to earth," she's not too much different. She often comes across as charming and charismatic, usually even more so the more comfortable she with people. While she may not look the part, she isn't typically afraid to speak her mind in the moment. She's usually rather confident, and even a bit daring at times, depending solely on who she's with at that moment in time. She likes to believe that she's rather witty with her humor, though often settles when her friends call her adorable instead.

At first, she often comes across as rather antisocial, quiet, and distant. She has the ability to make it known rather quickly when she wants to speak to people and get to know them, and when she feels like she wants to, she can handle social interaction with a warm smile, a confident laugh, and a friendly disposition. However, when she's not the one initiating the conversation, she has some difficulty meeting new people, often getting somewhat nervous and tripping over her own words. She remains as polite regardless, and tries her best not to let her nerves get the better of her, though she seems to have a hard time keeping focus around sudden strangers, sort of as if she has no clue of what to do or say to someone she doesn't quite feel she can trust yet. While she can put it aside for long enough to get through work interactions with new people smoothly, she isn't quite as successful in her free time. She often tries to avoid crowds and social gatherings with a lot of people that she doesn't recognize, preferring more introverted activities with maybe a friend or two versus extremely extroverted interactions with tons of others. While she can usually function alright enough with small groups,she has quite a bit of anxiety when it comes to large groups of unfamiliar people, hence why she tries to avoid events that will have them. However, she can try to brave it if she's with people she does actively feel close with and they want to go. While she won't admit it to anyone easily, she suffers from pretty bad anxiety, especially when it concerns making herself seem foolish, and she worries over the impression she leaves on people too much. She has a serious fear of embarrassing herself, simply wanting to please everyone so as not to be a target to any mockery, hence why interactions with those she doesn't seek out herself go so badly. When she initiates, it usually means that she feels she won't make a bad impression, regardless of what she does, but in other circumstances it's different. However, once she gets to the point where she's comfortable with those she's around, she lets her true colors shine.

When she's with people she feels close and comfortable with, such as her friends or lover, she can let down some of her barriers and show off her inner personality more clearly. She often behaves like a sort of leader-like big sister in her friend group. She's sympathetic to those around her, offering a shoulder to cry on and an optimistic source of advice to help carry others through hard times. She also works as a mediator for any conflicts that happen within her group, remaining purely neutral in every situation just so she can help both parties make up. She keeps those she's around out of trouble for sure, though that doesn't mean that she doesn't know how to have fun. On the contrary, she's actually a source of quite a lot of her group's laughter. It can often make things a bit difficult for her anxiety, as she can never really tell whether she's embarrassed herself or done something genuinely funny. Despite that, she'll do anything to make her friends happy. She's the type of girl who will attempt any new thing at least once, so long as she believes it to be worth doing. For example, if she wants to try something already and she's with her friends, she'll often ask if anyone dares her to do the thing she was interested in; however, on the flip side, she'll never accept if someone is trying to pressure her into something she knows is wrong. She has a very strong moral compass, as well as an uncanny ability to sniff out trouble and an innate desire to keep those around her safe at all times. She'll do whatever it takes to keep her pals out of trouble, even if it compromises things she cares about in the process.

However, like everyone, she has her flaws for sure. For instance, she finds that she is too generous for her own good. If the people around her need something, she finds that she'll drop everything to help. This leads to her putting her personal needs on the back burner, making her life harder in the process. She's a really honest person, sometimes to brutal points, but at the same time she has a tendency to keep her struggles internalized if it'll mean those around her aren't hurt. She has a tendency to bottle up her feelings just to appear as though she's alright and keep people from getting worried at her expense, which often ends about as well as one would expect. Due to this, alongside her crazily-active mind and difficulties understanding her own emotions, she gets burnt out incredibly easily. With or without said burnouts, she is way more sensitive than one would expect, and is prone to emotional outbursts the more things she has to cope with at one given moment. She can also slip into depressive states rather easily, usually even easier while she's in a burnout. Her self-image is also constantly fluctuating. While she usually feels rather confident and happy with herself, it doesn't always last, and she can go through horrible episodes of self-consciousness basically out of the blue. However, she tries her best to work through all of these issues, among others she has, as best she can.
