When he needs to be: sociable, suave. Has a good sense of humor and gets along with most. Competitive, needs to Be The Best, workaholic. Loves to be the center of attention. Sarcastic streak, but affectionately. Restless, bad at committing to things. Cynical, paranoid, jaded. Once-bitten, twice shy. At his worst, misanthropic. Secretly thinks very poorly of himself, but would never admit it.

Dark eyebrows, and long hair that is naturally black but he bleaches whiteish-silverish; often let down but sometimes pulled back into various updos. He has an undercut on the base of his neck and the hair there is still dark. Big nose. Dark facial hair that is usually cropped short (sometimes scruffy or doesn't grow in evenly, but what he has is very well groomed). Faded scars up his arms, stomachs, thighs, etc.; usually covered by clothes. Several tattoos (see refs for details). Physically he is 100% human, but enjoys artistic depictions of himself (in picrews and the like) with pointed elf ears and/or horns and/or fangs.

Sharp, classy, chic. Prefers dark and neutral colors. Sweaters, jackets, skirts, pants... He'll wear it all. Sometimes wears makeup. Almost always wearing some kind of jewelry; in particular earrings and a blue-green fidget ring on his middle left finger. Wears square-rimmed black glasses.

Gender nonconforming. Appreciates nontraditional clothing such as skirts or feminine-cut shirts. He actually identifies quite femininely; might even consider himself trans feminine in some respects.

Backstory

Early Life

Daniel “Sky” Slutsky was born October 30, 1994, to Mariah  Peyton and Isaac Slutsky. His parents divorced when he was 5 years old,  not long after his twin sisters Dev and Hannah were born. The three  children all lived full-time with their mother, except for one weekend a  month they spent with their father. Sky's mother constantly pushed him  to be a “poster child” - excelling in academics, sports, instruments,  etc. Sky was a bit of a social chameleon, so he managed to fit in, though lacked any kind of consistent identity. He tended to act out for  laughs, a bit of a class clown personality.

However, his home life was another story. His mom led a very strict lifestyle and  was emotionally and verbally abusive. He was not allowed to slip even  the smallest but, from schoolwork to chores to social expectations. For a  time, his sisters joined in on the teasing, not understanding. But when  they were 10 and Sky was 15, they realized that what they were doing  was wrong and started to side with him against their parents.

At age 8, Sky stumbled upon a pack of dogs surrounding a bedraggled orange cat. The cat fought hard but he was outnumbered; the dogs would have  torn him to shreds if Sky hadn’t jumped in the way and rescued  him. In the process, one of the dogs bit and badly mangled his hand. Sky  kept the cat, which he named Mustache, but he had to go to physical  therapy  to regain proper strength in this have, and he developed a fear  of dogs  that he never quite outgrew.216e4f72fbbbba8de6af70e7931fa6fe39c3829cd3623186a91ca28b7f010c597b5e3275db73a02d

Sky had his first kiss in kindergarten and crushed easily, dated often. He knew he was bisexual  long before he knew there was a word for it. Almost everyone he dated  were girls; he crushed a lot after men as well, though he never dated  one until college due to (internal and external homophobia). Almost all  of his relationships ended after getting into an argument with his  girlfriend and miscommunications and his apparent lack of understanding  “obvious” social cues.

At age 16, after a concerning visit with the school counselor Sky was referred to a psychiatrist who  diagnosed him with depression. He was initially given antidepressants,  but they made him feel dead inside and all-around brainbad, so he  stopped taking them and swore to stop taking drugs that meddled with his  brain chemistry and functions. Despite his new distrust of drugs (and  therapists), he did get one useful thing out of it -- accommodations for  a single dorm room and permission to take his beloved Mustache with him to college as an Emotional Support Animal.

Around this  time, he also secretly started dating one of his friends, another boy in  his class named Theo. Sky fell hard, and had a very rough break up with  him the summer before starting college. Theo was going to a university  far away and insisted that long distance wasn't worth it.

College Years

In Fall of 2012, Sky started school in a city not far from  his hometown - a large state school, for Computer Engineering. At  college he unofficially changed his name – going by Sky or, among his  closer friends, the full moniker, Slutsky. Around this time, he also  created a Tumblr account which started to gain traction. Online he used the nickname “Tumb-ler”, which some of this friends affectionately  called him as well. One of these friends was Harvey Fisher, a fellow  first year who quickly grew close. The two had their first year seminars  together and lived in the same building their first year, but even when  they did not have the convenience of matching schedules they still  found time to be together.

Sky enjoyed the freedom he  found with college, but also mourned the loss of his ex. Things started  to look up after meeting a student in the year above him named Thomas Hollister, though he went by Holli among friends. Holli was a music theory major, and Sky was drawn to his ear for music and down-to-earth, relaxed attitude.

The two had danced around the topic  of dating for some time before finally biting the bullet. In spring 2013, they started dating. However, Sky insisted that this was only a  casual thing, and he exclusively referred to Tom as his Rebound Guy. Despite the nickname, the two failed pretty spectacularly at casual dating.

Soon after, Sky's mother caught wind of Sky's relationship with Holli  and confronted him about it. In the end Sky and his family fell out, and  later Sky was completely cut off, financially  and otherwise. Now  without a way to support his college tuition, he had  to get a job. He  ended up getting a job in a coffee shop nearby his  campus. The work was  hard but fair; however one of his coworkers was  extremely homophobic,  and after several months of heated comments, physically assaulted Sky.Sky quit the job, but that did nothing to stop the mental health spiral  the event triggered. He fell  into a manic episode, refusing to sleep or  eat. Realizing how badly he was struggling, he got a therapist, but  doing so, while helpful in some ways, also dug up memories of abuse and trauma, which only made his  situation worse again.12d7b7ea033cab02889131792813cdaa56938d1f

Reluctantly, Sky reached out to  the people he felt would  be the most understanding of his predicament: his sisters. They met up  for the first time in years for a teary  reunion. Dev and Hannah were 15, sophomores in high school. They promised not to let their parents’ spats get in the way of them again  and vowed to keep in touch. After that things started to look up. His  depressive episode had subsided and  his mental health was a lot more manageable. He spent more time at work, and more time outside of his room, hanging out with his friends  and boyfriend.

That summer, Sky's cat Mustache snuck out, spending the night in the rain until Sky found him and brought him home. His health started to decline. On August 19, 2015, Mustache passed away in his sleep. The next few months were rough for Sky. Mustache had been his first friend, his  confidant. He physically harmed himself for the  first time in years. He  had a rocky start to the fall  semester of his senior year. He missed many of his first classes.

When he finally came  out of his depressive funk, he quit  his job and made  plans to start  working at a large company in town run  by Alyss’s friend Alix. In December 2015, Sky fell for a stray cat, a little orange and white kitten with only one eye. He adopted her and named her Crembo.

Sky’s  last semester picked up. He invested himself in his schoolwork, and  even secured himself a full-time job  working with Alix after he graduated. Sky graduated in  May  2016. his  friends and boyfriend all  showed up to the ceremony.  Sky  graduated with  a double major in  economics and computer  engineering, with a minor in music.

Post-Graduation

After graduation, Sky temporarily moved into the house of family friends of Alyss, the Berlins. He started working full time at CWC. Life has its ups and downs (the 2016 elections in particular were quite hard on Sky), but in general, life was better than it wasn't.

On August 27 2017, just over the two-year anniversary of Mustache’s passing, Sky discovers that his housemate Tyler had found a bedraggled stray cat that needed a home. Sky eagerly offers to adopt her. The cat is a calico-and-white she-cat with one eye about 6 years old, that he named Falafel.

In Fall of 2017, his sisters started college. Hannah went to a private liberal arts school nearby, but Dev went to one of the UCs in California, all the way on the other side of the country. Sky missed her terribly, and they talked often. He visited Hannah whenever he could.

Things went well, for the most part. Sky enjoyed his work, loved his cats, and spent his time equally at the Berlins or at his boyfriend’s. His sisters went to college, and while Dev was far away Hannah was nearby and they met up as often as they could. He got to travel, both for work and for fun. He went to his first pride parade in June.

He also started working towards a new chapter of life: Graduate school. He worked hard on his applications, applying to schools all over the country.

Covid and Grad School

Unfortunately, things went awry with covid in spring 2020. He had started grad school in California, but took several semesters off due to Covid and moved back in with Holli. He spent many months cozily indoors with his boyfriend and cats, playing Animal Crossing and pretending the outside world didn't exist.

Eventually he was able to go back to school. He moved in with a friend of a friend named Clem. Clem and Sky instantly hit it off, and the two became good friends. Clem also helped Sky work through some latent gender questioning, and eventually Sky realized that he was not a gender nonconforming man, but rather a gender nonconforming genderqueer person.

Sky graduated with a Master's degree in Computer Engineering in Spring 2022.

Life With a Master's Degree

Life is stable, but good. By this point, Slutsky has been  living in an apartment in the City with Holli for over half a decade.  They celebrated their ten year anniversary in 2023. They spend evenings  in the yard by the fire pit. Holli plays guitar and sings.

In later 2023/early 2024, Clem moved across the country and into the apartment.

Sky is working at ___.

Trivia

Slutsky was originally a roleplay blog on tumblr who went primarily by the name of Tumb-ler. I'm sure it's obvious from the name which fandom he was originally from, but I'll share us all the indignity of me saying so.

He is very clumsy and prefers the elevator to the stairs, since he often trips going up or down them.

He is a terrible cook.

Sky was my first human character and has been a huge part of my life since I "met" him over decade ago.

Despite his origins as an rp blog, I have scrubbed his backstory above from any mentions of rp characters, except for ones I had permission to include. Slutsky made many friends over the years, and we still consider them fondly, even if they were not plot-relevant characters. Some of these characters include, in no particular order: Eternal, Kodak, Lotte, Beth, Ghost (& H3L3N), Webby, Moira (& her children), Gabby (& Amby), Fem Once-ler, Stone-ler, Green, Theo (& Arboris), and others not mentioned here. Thank you everyone for your kind interactions over the years.
