When the small village of Hinode started to transform into a city nothing was safe, not even the Shrine that had protected it for so long. One of the heads, overseeing the development of their new homes; had looked at the Shrine that had stood untouched for centuries.
Up until now, no one dared to suggest altering it in any way, but this person had a vision. He had gone to many towns and villages and noticed that most of the other similarily-sized shrines had something in common that this shrine lacked. A pair of lion-dog statues, guarding the entrance.
Originally met with scorn, the peoples slowly opened up to the idea under the pretext that their home was rapidly expanding from village to city, and that a sole tiger Diety would not be enough to protect it all.So two Koma-Inu statues were erected by the entrance, gaining much attention from the villagers. It wasn't too long until the villager's visits and prayers brought one to life. Ui was born from their well-meanings.
The White Tiger Kami, Byakko, quickly took her under his wing and taught her the ways of the world. She learnt quickly from him and started to help him around the Shrine.
The following year, Akane was similarily born and joined the two, making them a complete family.
However Hinode expanded farther than anyone could have expected, and times were changing. The small town that needed the White Tiger to protect it was no more. Byakko themself acknowledged this and decided to step down from their position as a Kami, to explore this new human world so that they could better serve their peoples.
Ui was distraught at her guardian's leave and fought with tears in her eyes to beg them to stay, though her efforts were fruitless.
In Byakko's honor, she decided that she would run the Shrine better than before, in hopes that one day they would return.
Akane [ Partner ]
The 'A' to her 'Un' of koma-inu. Despite being 'sisters', their personalities clash often but they do care for eachother.
Hotaru [ Co-worker ]
A somewhat recent hire at the shrine, Ui often butts heads with Hotaru for their different philosophies. She is quite happy that he doesn't spend much time around the place.
Byakko [ Mentor, Parental Figure ]
The first person she met after she came to life. She loves them dearly and wishes to see them once more.HTML by Pinky
