Profile

Cyrus is a Sophomore at Louisiana’s Northwestern State University, and he’s majoring in flute performance. He is seen by his peers as a weirdo, mostly due to his apathy towards others as well as his constant musings about death and the human soul. When asked what he’s interested in, he will simply reply, “Things that interest me,” and it’s difficult for anyone to make a real connection with him. Cyrus seems very uninterested unless it comes to death or music. Despite all of this, he ends up making a friend in Nolan Campanella, an immortal Junior in the engineering program.

Immortality was never Cyrus’s goal. He wanted to understand death, even if the death he was understanding was his own. He didn’t understand why anyone would ever want to escape death. He still doesn’t understand or approve, but meeting and eventually falling in love with Nolan changed him, somewhat. Cyrus realized that, after he dies, Nolan will be all alone for eternity. This, combined with Cyrus discovering the truth behind what occurs after death, caused him to make a decision. He would become immortal himself, and then he would stay by Nolan’s side forever. Cyrus was presented with an opportunity soon after, and after drinking a god’s blood, Cyrus cemented himself as an immortal.

Becoming immortal didn’t stop Cyrus’s fascination with death and the macabre, though. If anything, it just redirected it. He still appreciates unethical experimentation (as long as it’s self inflicted), and he still finds enjoyment in the same games and TV shows he was into before (Persona 3, Evangelion, Baccano, and Xenogears).

Draw With:

Nolan(Immortal): Nolan and Cyrus meet during the interrogations. At first, Nolan attempts to keep their distance from Cyrus, as they haven't let themself have many friends at all since they became immortal. At a party, though, Cyrus and Nolan end up bonding over being wallflowers who are more focused on peoplewatching than normal party activities. After that, Nolan quickly lets Cyrus take up a bigger part of their life. Nolan finds interest in Cyrus's obsession with death and the human soul, and Cyrus is happy that there is someone to listen to his ramblings. After Cyrus discovers Nolan's immortality, their relationship somehow gets even stronger. Cyrus makes Nolan realize that they aren't as lost as they thought they were, and Nolan causes Cyrus to discover that his soul isn't gone yet. The two look out for each other, both of them caring more about the other's wellbeing than of their own. Nolan is usually over at Cyrus's dorm, playing Cyrus's favorite games on the PS2 while listening to Cyrus talk about death. Nolan attends all of Cyrus's flute performances, and the two can often be seen at the campus cafe talking with each other. Cyrus is the key to Nolan's lock, and they wish to keep each other close for as long as possible. Cyrus ends up becoming immortal as well through his own means, and the two decided to get married in 600 years. Cyrus tends to stare blankly most of the time, but Nolan is able to bring out some of Cyrus's most genuine smiles. (Interaction Scene: Wallflowers)
