This is an old and messy AU that I don't like anymore but it's here for posterity
Backstory
FONV au is a continuation of FO3 au. Aletta was born in the Capital Wasteland to Sebastian and Rosetta Vancouver. They worked to liberate slaves, and when Aletta was finally old enough to be allowed to help, the worst happened: her mother was killed in a botched operation. Sebastian took Aletta away from that life afterwards and they traveled as scavengers. One scavenger trip went south and ended in his capture by the super mutants.
Now orphaned, Aletta found a new family in the ubiquitous Lone Wanderer, and more. After the fall of Raven Rock, they traveled away and settled in New Vegas. While her friends were happy to relax after such an adventure, Aletta still needed action. Her bad luck followed her however, and she would be the only survivor of an attack by the Legion.
Now embittered, completely alone once again, and terrified, Aletta flung herself into the ranks of the NCR to scrap up a sense of purpose. She quickly became disillusioned and realized she had made a mistake. After her patrol discovers a strange man near-death, she deserts to travel with him-- or perhaps even keep him in line. She is still lost and bereft, but Otsilam needs help, and New Vegas needs protection.
