PERSONALITY
The fact that he has 9 PhDs (and counting) says a lot about his character; he's an overachiever, he is in constant persuit of knowledge, and he needs a better way to cure boredom. He sets himself up as a mentor figure to the other states, subconciously assuming he knows more in part because his numerous degrees. He's organized, objective, quick witted and in general reliable but just as impulsive, especially in protecting his moral beliefes. Truthfully he needs some time to slow down a bit, if only it wouldn't then cause him to overthink and dwell on mistakes. He will question EVERYTHING within sociaty itself. He's been trying to get better, but he may drown in his own suffering and grudges from time to time. Many a poem of hopeless romance and internal tourmoil has came of this. He constantly thinks he's doing something wrong. That he is something wrong, and has to constantly fight his own self-criticism.

- He was "born" a female beforehand, from the pilgrim colonies
- At a young age, he was accused of being a witch by his own locals. Further arbitrary investigations concluded he was, and he was thus hung (and strangled) to death. It's haunted him ever since, giving him a knawing feeling he doesn't know as much about himself as others, and that he is something to be scared of. For a while he was convinced even being a state was something frowned upon with the locals until seeing how close Texas is with them. It took him a while to come to terms with that.
- He was forced into a marriage (far too young as well) with New Hampshire. Neither liked the lack of choice and were in fact the first two to revolt, just in different senses of the word.
- He's rebeled against the empire several times until he was locked in for his rebelious behavior (see: Boston Tea Party/Boston Port Act)
- After the revolution (in which he "lit the flames of" so to speak) (see: revolution) he was in a relationship with Vermont, which didn't last as they realized there wasn't a connection between them two.
- After they broke off was around the time he realized that he liked men, but also that he doesn't feel confortable in his own skin as a female (tho the feeling had been there for a while, tho at the time unexplainable). He sought higher education at Harvard so he could surgically remove his breasts, but wouldn't tell the other states this was the case.
- For the longest time he would sometimes attempt to drown himself to see if he would sink or swim, as it was a common tactic to determine who was a witch. These tests were of a great deal to him, though he would mostly float in the end and it stung. One time he did actually nearly drown, though, and someone had to get him above the water before he did die. He's sinced stopped realizing it was doing far more harm to him (and that its scientifically incorrect logic), though now he is concious of how he gets into pools normally.
- Once he did cut his breasts off, which was sorta painful because no one would know how to do that properly, he got scared that if he died, his breasts would come back. To be fair no one knows if this would or wouldn't happen, and he isn't gonna find out.
- He was as up front on abolition movements during the civil war as he was in the colonial liberties. Add on temprance and transcendentalist beliefs.
Present Day
- Currently getting a degree from MIT in Cognitive science
- Don't mention to him the Cabin Incident, the "Trump VS JFK" bar fight, the Shakespear incident, the JFK assasination recreation.....most of these were while drunk but still
DESIGN
- His star is on lower neck near would-be addams apple, always covered
- Coat may be taken off, especially in less formal occasions. Hat may change to ballcap with a pine tree turned backwards as well. May occasinally wear a pinetree pin. Might wear Redsox merch either with or without the vest over it.
- He wears sturdy platforms which are able to walk in the snow and also fit his look in general. Taking them off his tiny size would be put into perspective. Also has scars on his neck.

JOHN "NEW YORK" MANHATTAN
They have a strong sports rivalry which can sometimes get violent, to the point he calls NY the "Evil Emperor," though they are often on the same page politically.
VIVIANE "VERMONT"
Had a relationship pre transition though it fell though. They still talk sometimes but hardly do they come to a common ground. Mas is worried about her gossiping about him too much, especialy about his other romantic persuits, thuogh.
COLLIN "COLORADO" RODO
He has a crush on him though he doesn't ever speak of it in fear of judgement. He also hasn't reached out to him; Colo had to "reach out" to him instead (it was a joke flirt but it went over Mass' head).
PUERTO RICO
Despite Puerto not having homework, he wants to be the person she feels safe with asking about that. This doesn't mean he doesn't occasonally lash out from stress, though to be fair he's sorta done that to everyone on the road during a stressful day
NORMAN "NEW HAMPSHIRE" HANSHIRE
They go way back to when they were both forced into a marriage at a very young age, in which neither liked the lack of choice but there weren't any hard feelings towards the other. In fact, since then they've been decently close, often being the only person the other would tell their darkest struggles to. He was in fact the first person to know Mass felt like a man, and took it well!
TRIVIA
- He will have to stop himself from correcting you when saying he's a "Commonwealth" instead of a "state" (there is virtually no difference these days and he knows this annoys people)
- He's gay and out of the closet, in fact he was the first one to legalize gay marriage
- He's recently also the first one to actually tax the rich, and is giving the money so school lunches can be free.
- His Voice Claim Jerma, his singing voice claim is Shayfer James, and he develops the speech patterns of Clone High JFK when drunk
- Has his star by his neck, where an adam's apple would be
- Huge bookworm (currently reading "Mystic River" by Dennis Lehane). Has a book filled with all of Poe's works.
- Someone please get him to stop drinking so much Dunkin Donuts, its 3am
- Dear god there's spiked dunkin donuts?!?!? Don't let him behind the wheel 0_0
- Has some strange hyperfixation on the Kennedys. Has recreated JFK's death on more than one occasion. Texas especially is concerned about this
- Has a thing for baked beans, cranberry juice (and cranberries in general), basketball, vollyball, and donuts
- Sometimes wears a ballcap with a pinetree backwards- One of the states worst in Vanity but one of the best in mediating anger, vices, lust and laziness
