Seemingly a boring, ordinary Wall Street trader, New York, or, in his human alias, John Manhattan, has hidden depths.

On the one hand, he's an excellent chef, capable of making a mean pizza pie, plate of spaghetti, bagel, Knish, or any other Italian or Jewish staple you can name. He has a theatrical side which he shares with Cali, a love of sports, and is n excellent father figure to Puerto Rico.

On the other hand, he has a dark past, having been involved in the mafia during Prohibition, even counting two fellow states among his kill list, those being Wyoming, after he learned too much and had to be silenced, and Nevada, for a suspicious winning streak in mafia owned casinos. (Nevada really was just that lucky and just that good, but New York didn't know that, and probably wouldn't have cared.) In fact, in Nevada's case, NY didn't even know he was killing a state, as NV's high roller persona in those casinoes clashed heavily with his fairly depressive usual personality at that time.
