Leucis is a young man with a big sword and an overwillingness to use it against evil. He's incredibly nice and cheerful to everyone around him - so cheerful, in fact, that the more cynical members of the populace find it a little suspicious. Still, it's clear that he genuinely wants to help people out, and so it's fairly easy for him to win trust. The Black Mage, Iehraine, trusts him immediately when they meet and forms the closest bond with him. Once you get to know him a bit, it's also clear that he has some deeply serious personal beef with the forces of Chaos, and he's willing to go to any lengths to get rid of them for good.

Leucis is from a small village near the base of Mt Duergar, where he grew up with his older sister, Sephne, and their father, Oak, a former military general who retired after a career-ending injury. He never stated where he served. Sephne is two years older than him, and the bond between them is unmistakable and unyielding. Oak trained both of them in swordsmanship pretty much as soon as they were able to hold stuff without falling over. It wasn't long before they were able to go out hunting on their own, and not much longer before they were able to repel small monster attacks from their village's walls. They work best as a team; Leucis adores his sister. When the faintly-glowing red crystal appeared, the village was thrilled. Much partying and celebration was had, because the Warriors of Light meant that the darkness and the monsters were that much closer to being repelled! And once the partying finally ended, the siblings decided to travel together towards the city of Cornelia, keeping each other safe until the other Warriors were revealed to them. It would take some weeks to reach the city from their tiny little village, but they were confident all would be fine as long as they had each other.

Travel came fairly easy in the beginning. Other than the occasional monster attack, things were fairly uneventful. Not many other people were travelling around in the darkened world - which, unfortunately, meant enemy ambushes were a lot easier to set up as well... The monsters had noticed the partying, and had been following them from nearly the beginning, studying their tactics and waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The siblings were quickly outnumbered, outmatched, and pushed to the edge of an unsteady mountain cliff. In his fatigued state, he missed one of the monsters moving in to strike - but Sephne intercepted the hit. She fell into him as she went down, pushing him over the edge. The last thing he saw as he fell, before he hit the ground below and blacked out, was a monster slinging Sephne over its shoulder to carry her away.

He has no idea if his sister is alive or dead - all he knows is that Chaos' minions have her in their grasp. Leucis has not said much about Sephne to the rest of his party - what little he has said implies to the party merely that he lost a friend to the monsters. That's more than enough for them to understand why he takes the fight against the monsters so personally, though, so they generally don't press him on it further. While Leucis isn't dumb, he's not very strategically-minded, having never gotten a chance for a proper book-based education. He tends to brute force his way through problems and has to be pulled back, usually by Minn, before things escalate too far.

He is 16 when he meets the other Warriors of Light. People occasionally comment that they expected someone a little bit older, but since he does have the crystal in his possession they typically let it slide. His hair is close to waist-length on him.

Leucis is NOT the true chosen Warrior of Light. Sephne was actually the one who had the dream of the prophecy and woke up with the crystal. Leucis was still thrilled, being the brother of a legendary hero, and vowed to do whatever he could to try and help her.

Sephne kept the crystal wrapped in a jewelry thread that she entwined into her belt. In a moment of panic, just before he fell off the cliff in that monster fight, Leucis reached forward to grab at her; he only managed to grip onto the belt before the ground collapsed beneath his feet. The belt broke and the jewelry thread snapped, and as he went over the cliff, the crystal came with him. The monsters were apparently unaware of this, taking her away and leaving him for dead.

Whether he's actually worthy of the crystal or not isn't as important as saving her. If that meant faking his identity to get in with a group of powerful heroes, so be it. The gods could punish him for it later.
