Before joining the Black Hand with his sister, Ysolde, Isaiah was little more than your average, small town boy. He grew up with a loving family and often trailed after his older sister with dreams of one day becoming a baker. They aspired to own their own shop. Though, such mundane thoughts were tossed aside once he and his sister stumbled upon a Void Bloom not far from their family home. Fascinated with the strange flower, the siblings decided to care for it. And in doing so, unwittingly subjected themselves to the toxins that the eldritch plant released. Over time, the pair became obsessed with the bloom which in turn morphed both their minds and bodies. Darker thoughts and whispers filled their heads until neither Ysolde nor Isaiah cared for their old aspirations and lives. Their new goal was clear... and they set to work forming the cult dedicated to the Void Bloom's creator, the Void Mother; the Black Hand. Isaiah now spends most of his days assisting Hel, Ysolde's second in command, with menial tasks around the coven. He's not very skilled with magics, so it's the most that he can do despite being a founding member.
Personality
Isaiah is not what one would think of when they first picture a necromancer in their mind. He's very shy, timid, and cautious in most situations. This, mixed with his lack of skills in spellcasting, often leaves him religated as an extra in the cult's activities.... not that he particularly minds. He'd rather read about all the evils in the world than actually perform them. That being said, Isaiah can be quite crafty when he wants to be, and is more than happy to tease and chatter with those he's comfortable with (of which both his sister and Hel despise).
Additional Notes
Character Notes
- Isaish is not skilled with magics at all. As such, he's usually never allowed to preform summonings or rituals on his own.
- He is one of the youngest members in the Black Hand, and the others all make it a point to tease him about it whenever possible.
Design Notes
- Isaiah's most prominent feature of corruption are the inky black tentacles that have sprouted from his back. He has the ability to recall them back into his body at will, and often does so when trying to blend in with people.
- Like all members of the Black Hand, Isaiah does have glowing green eyes and black, claw like hands.
Related Characters
Ysolde [ Sister/ Cult Leader ]
The leader of the Black Hand and Isaiah's older sister. He loves her dearly, even if she treats him rather poorly. And while Ysolde is callus and stern with everyone much to everyone else's chagrin, he tries not to hold it against her... knowing that she has to upkeep a certain facade as the leader of their coven.
Hel [ Mentor ]
Second in command of the Black Hand and Isaiah's designated mentor. Though Hel would argue he's more a babysitter than anything. Despite how cold the other can be, Isaiah looks up to the older mage quite a bit.
Aster [ Friend ]
A mage that follows a different diety. Though despite that, the pair get along quite well. Aster appreciates that Isaiah understands his limits and that magic is something to be careful with. While conversely, Isaiah holds high regard for the patience and willingness that Aster shows him when he asks for guidance... something he never really gets from his own coven.
