ahhh I knew old mate Serge Lutens would have something for us. Here. De Profundis. Green, soil, cold. Subtle incense. Or maybe [takes a really deep breath] Hermann A Mes Cotes Me Paraissait Une Ombre by Etat Libre d'Orange. neither are regal or imposing but 4 me the earthiness evokes the cool stillness and contemplation of a grave. The former might be more elegant... the latter might be a bit more austere yet includes the suggested rose 👌

Thanatos Headcanons:
-Some say that the reason the land he rules can be “hauntingly beautiful” is because he lets Gaea do some of the land designing. As he loves her very much, he lets her have a good amount of control over how the land looks and a good amount of control in the governance.
-He’s very affectionate to his wife, but distant to literally everyone else he knows. He’s not that great with social interaction, and his wife happily does the talking for him.
-Dislikes bright areas, but can adjust to said bright environments if needed.
-He is not good with words, and often says things that can be misunderstood very easily, so he prefers to have other people talk for him.
-He’s very good with communicating things visually, and is a well known artist and patron of the arts

Ashes opened the door and stared blanky for a moment at the two dragons, he blinked. Where he is from dragons were nearly extinct so seeing one let alone two was quite a sight. In a normal circumstance, Ashes would probably be quite terrified given the only dragon he had ever seen in person was evil and violent, however, these two dragons were dressed up trick or treating. The two did not seem like they were there to harm him and, at least seemed, to have a friendly demeanor.
He realized he had been staring while lost in his head and shook the thoughts off," Hi! I really like both of your costumes, they're both very pretty!"
Ashes grabbed one of the candy bowls and put a fist full of various candies in each of the two's bags.
He then smiled," Here, you both get some extra goodies for having such nice costumes."
Ashes then placed a small, luminescent star in each of their bags as well as a CD player with a CD containing two songs (Meet Me In The Woods - Lord Huron & Coyotes - Modest Mouse) into Gaea's bag. He then grabbed a shiny umbreon plushie and a music box that played a music box version of Amber Run - I Found into Thanatos' bag.

(Both Thanatos and Gaea are awesome characters. Personality, lore, and design wise! The songs I picked for Gaea were vibes based and the I found music box was based on the like of music boxes and that sad/pretty song aesthetic. Also the umbreon plush was based on the search history and I made it a shiny one since those have blue instead of yellow.)

I wrote this more through the perspective of Floriano being told about Thanatos indirectly rather than personally meeting him, as I don't think it'd be all that likely for him to encounter a bona fide god (nor do I think Thanatos would really care about letting Floriano have an audience with him). I hope that's alright!

"You must be joking." Floriano remarked to his masseur as he shucked off his shirt and held it aside for a servant to take. "Death is never beautiful. It is not gentle or peaceful. It is decay and rot. Pain and suffering. This 'God' is clearly a falsehood, an insult to Our Mother." Though his body was tense, he still lowered himself onto the couch, now resting on his abdomen. Before the masseur can speak a word in response, he raises an arm. "Go on. We'll keep talking."
... Yet he seems to have more to say before allowing the other man to contribute. "Furthermore, the only 'dragons' to ever exist were simply lizards bewitched by magic. This... 'feathered dragon' you speak of, with its many appendages... To create it would require overwhelming power. Power no single witch possesses; and there is no reason for all the witches to come together, solely to create this creature." He finally thinks to pause when the masseur interjects, closing his eyes as he focuses on the other man's words, and how they intermingled with the strokes and presses on his back.
"... A 'God' from another land, you say?" His words are slow and contemplative as he begins to relax. "Hmm. Then that land is mistaken. Obviously. Do not concern yourself with the confused dreams of a distant world. After all, tending to me is a far worthier and more relevant cause."
(He tries hard not to show it, but Floriano deeply fears his own mortality. Not only does it color his perception of Thanatos (as well as his "beauty"), but it leads him to outright reject his existence completely. Thanatos' mere existence would also go against the religion that Floriano follows within his setting, which he kind of uses as an excuse to "disprove" his existence for his own peace of mind. If he properly met him, he'd probably freak out haha.)

The gaudy gloom of Thanatos' castle was less than to be admired by the King of Joy. A frigid, ornate icebox.
August sits on his knees and digs through his pockets, pulling out a pack of crayons. There's a small label on the side warning of their addictiveness. August plucks them like cigarettes.
Glancing over his shoulder, August smiles slyly at the death-god. He extends his index finger and motions for him to come a little closer.
"Are you a chicken, or a god? Come now. A little color won't hurt. In fact, art can be an excellent catalyst to learning new things about one another. Some even say it's therapeutic."
August begins drawing on the floors of Thanatos' castle. Rainbows, flowers and even a portrait of Thanatos himself soon cake the tiles. The pigeon king nonchalantly plays with the curls of his hair, skillfully etching away at the melancholy décor. After giving his neon-interpretation of Thanatos portrait a fluffy, pink bow, August begins to etch a portrait of himself right next to it. Each crayon mark seems to carefully mold the image of him. He, too, is quite colorful, although an odd number of greys and blues are used to create his face.
He motions towards Thanatos, handing him a crayon once he's finished with his art.
"Do you see that? That's me. That's exactly what I am. I've used colors selectively to describe myself. You can use colors to tell me about yourself, too."
