Profile

Obligatory she/they twin to my he/they sona,,,

•The twin sister of Ymir, and daughter of Johann and Ilya. Born in 1980, Hilda was only three years old when she and her twin were abducted from their surviving father.

•Taken by a secretive organization focused on genetic experimentation, the twins were both melded with animal DNA; in Hilda's case, hers was that of a domestic cat. She took to the genes seamlessly, unlike many of the other children-countless of whom lost their lives slowly and painfully.

•As a child, they lived in a compound with the other kids who survived the experiments, her brother Ymir and eventual best friend Sky included. Unfortunately for Hilda, however, her status as a near-perfect meld causes her to be frequently taken away to be used for espionage missions. The cat DNA has gifted them countless traits that make Hilda a perfect little spy, and no one cares for the immense psychological damage this inflicts.

•She's only eleven years old when she takes her first life, a guard with keen hearing who'd caught her climbing into a vent. They're messed up enough to be taken back to the compound-the unknowns of impending puberty were already leering ahead, regardless, so it was killing two birds with one stone. Hilda quickly learns, however, that she is even more of an outcast than she feared upon her return. There is no going back to how things were before she became a child spy, and that is the beginning of her aggressive nature.

•Many years later, Hilda is away from the compound when Sky assists Solid Snake in sending the place to kingdom come. As one of the very few remaining experimental kids left in their hands, her lifelong captors become even more zealous in their attempts to keep her under their thumbs. She is never able to escape, and eventually gives up on trying. When they eventually learn of Sky's involvement in destroying the compound, this perceived abandonment and betrayal drives them into horrific depths of rage and hatred.

•Hilda attempts revenge against Sky and Ymir for leaving her behind, but fails to do so. Despite being freed from her captors afterwards, she is never able to escape her ingrained bitterness and fury. These feelings extend to David and Hal as well, since the two "stole" her brother and best friend away.

•Their unchecked, agonizing emotions only grow more poisonous over time, until Hilda realizes life is not worth living. She is unwanted, unneeded, unloved, and after finding out about her father Johann, they understand a simple fact. It would have been better had the experiments killed them from the start; after all, the only one who ever truly cherished them only knew Hilda as a baby and a toddler. Everyone else turned their backs on her in the end.

•Ymir is the one to prevent her suicide attempt from succeeding, and is unwavering in the task of helping nurse her back to physical health after. It's only then that Hilda can even begin to try accepting that maybe, just maybe, she was loved after all... and the journey there is still painful beyond imagining.

•(I might BS a way for Sniper Wolf to live... you know why //wink and nudge)

Personality summary: She has struggled her entire life with bitterness, rage, and impulsive decisions. Her lack of filter and unchecked bluntness often worked against her even in her adult years; Hilda has very few friends, and rarely shows any hint of vulnerability. However, that doesn't mean she is malicious or uncaring for anyone-they love their brother, and have a great deal of affection for Sky, another experiment kid from the compound. They will tear you to pieces if you hurt either one. Her connections with them are what grounds her, and she often feels intense remorse over having treated them poorly in the past thanks to trauma. For a very long time, Hilda felt as if nobody wanted nor loved her, a maelstrom of self-loathing that nearly took her life. It was only when Ymir saved them that they began to allow themself to believe they weren't as cast aside as they believed. When in a good mood, she is mercilessly teasing and very catlike, including stealing snacks or playing with balls of yarn or mouse toys. Like any self-respecting cat, Hilda will get 3 am zoomies and chase her brother until one of them slams against a wall or chair, and be completely unapologetic should David be woken up in the process. They have a weakness for ladies who could easily defeat them in a fight, and become surprisingly shy in the presence of a woman they're attracted to, even comedically avoiding her out of sheer embarrassment.
