Tánlàng (潭浪)

First created to ship with my classmate character. After that little project was dismissed, Tanlang's world then evolves into a whole thing branching and containing most of my current xuanhuan OCs. Technically, he's the founder who started everything in my eastern fantasy folder, but most of the time I still treat him as this wacky comedy relief character and forget his former background. Currently married to his old nemesis from his first backstory.

A giant eel that ate a full body sarira (buddhist mummy) and grew to monstrous size. It disturbs and wreck havoc to the town that host it's nest, wiped out all nearby sea life and therefore prevent human to travel and fish, causing poverty and hunger. Human were so afraid of it that after several failures at monster hunting and exorcism, they tried to honor it as the Great Ancient Dragon, even sacrificing virgins to beg for it's mercy and protection but to no avail. Eventually, the once bustling and rich port town turn into an abandoned location that's infested with demonic beasts. Soul of the victims stay trapped and continue to draw more and more living beings under the dark water.

Aside from those who were forced to be fish food, one suicidal maiden decided to poison herself and swam to Tanlang's territory, who thought that she could trick the beast to eat the sacrifice and drop dead. Tanlang learnt the reason behind her action is most of her loved ones were one way or another killed by him, and that one rare close interaction with human awaken some sense of guit inside the animal. Tanlang has met a prey who offered itself to him, as well as sparing a meal for the first time in his life, but she still ended up dead in his confusion. In addition to that event, he had grown tired from all the fighting with the military and taoist, the monster decided to sunk into a slumber, waiting for the food to reproduce and in the mean time sleep the weird feeling out.

Tanlang was awaken few years later by yet another exorcist, but this time, the man didn't want to kill the beast, but to tame it (although in a very violent way) and make it into his familiar, to company him in his evil plan and rule over the continent.

They later ended up marrying each other and work as guardians for the same town Tanlang destroyed in a series of "mission failed successfully" events.
