Personality

+ Calm, Dutiful, Optimistic + . = Mellow, Sarcastic, Skeptical = . - Blunt, Forgetful, Rigid -

Redstar is known as being a fair and levelheaded leader. While others may react with frustration and raised voices, she remains calm and collected, seeing sides to an argument that others may not. She is dutiful and puts her all into protecting RiverClan and ensuring her Clan is safe and well fed above all else, even if it means surrendering Sunning Rocks to ThunderClan for a brief time. She does her best to stay optimistic and always sees the good in every situation.

In her age she has mellowed out and is not the fearsome fighter she was in her youth. Redstar will spend more time with the kits of the Clan than on patrols these days but is still very aware of everything that is happening in RiverClan. Her sarcasm hasn’t dulled with age and she is still fully capable of using it to her advantage. She approaches every situation with skeptisism, which sometimes leads to her completely misjudging situations or being seen as passive.

She’s blunt in her words, having absolutely no subtlety. She will say things as she sees them, with little regard to others feelings. Redstar often forgets things these days, whether it be a Clanmates name or where she left some prey it has been becoming far more obvious. She’s very rigid and doesn’t give into change very easily.

History

Some would probably joke that Redstar is as old as the trees with how long she has been leader. But like everyone, she started out as a mewling kit in the nursery. Redkit was born into a loving family, all of which have since joined StarClan. She was an excitable kit, rushing here and there, eagerly making friends and organising games of “Warrior” with her den mates.

Then she was Redpaw, an equally excitable apprentice with a love of learning. She remembers her mentor fondly, a cat named Pikefur. Pikefur took her to see so much, even bringing her to Mother Mouth while the former leader, Pouncestar, went to communicate with StarClan. That experience was a great inspiration for Redpaw and she became determined to become a great leader for her Clan like Pouncestar.

After begging, Pikefur began giving her more advanced training. It was a great struggle and Redpaw’s determination caused her to fall into a fox den. She survived, but not without scars. It was a humbling event, one that forced her to slow down and appreciate life. Her time healing gave her a chance to learn how to be a Warrior without focusing solely on battle. She could be a good Clanmate and care for her Clan without constantly going out into the territory for patrols.

She returned to training with a clearer head and a desire to take things at a manageable pace. She fought her first battle against ThunderClan for Sunning Rocks. RiverClan lost, but she was still recognised for her efforts and received her Warrior name, Redfox.

Redfox participated in more Sunning Rocks battles, seeing her fair share of victories and defeats. She focused her efforts onto caring for her Clanmates who took the defeats the hardest, using her calm and level headed personality to keep her patrols in order. She trained a few apprentices in her time over the years as well, Littleflight, Yellowflower and Hopleap… they were all gone now. Their lives claimed by greencough, dogs and drowning.

Redfox was named deputy only a few moons before Pouncestar lost their final life to a tangled fishing line left by the river by Twolegs. While not feeling ready, Redfox accepted that her new position of leader was impossible to avoid.

A life for love, taken by an eagle. A life for courage, taken in battle. A life for mentoring, taken by the cold. A life for justice, taken by a dog. A life for clear sight, taken by greencough. A life for friendship taken by the floods. A life for wisdom taken by a strange Rogue with a flower for an eye.

Redstar only has two lives left, a life for humour and a life for empathy. She has outlived two deputies, Groveheart and Shredleaf. She is continuing to do what she can to keep RiverClan stable and safe, but worries about her neighbours in ThunderClan. There’s a high chance that Dawnstar may send his Warriors to invade Sunning Rocks, territory she is reluctant to surrender at this time.

Things seemed to go smoothly for Redstar, life returning to normal as she patrolled with her Clanmates and generally kept an eye on things. Although, she does worry that she made a poor decision in naming Lakeshade her deputy.

When Gathering time rolled around, she was stunned when the apprentices declined the opportunity to attend. Bluepaw especially seemed, nervous... but, it was likely just another squabble between him and his sibling. Even so, she led RiverClan to the Gathering with her head held high. She and Dawnstar chatted with no conflict between them, but when the deputies started arguing and Lightningstar's bad attitude reared its head, the elderly leader stepped in.

With the strenght of a cat moons younger than her, she called each and every arguing cat out on their poor behaviour, even threatening to remove Lakeshade's deputy rank if he dared to mention war with ThunderClan. But even so, the WindClan deputy's words clung to her mind as they headed back to camp. Clayfoot's ability to calm the crowd gave her hope that with their help, she might just be able to bring peace between RiverClan and ThunderClan. It's just going to take planning and careful negotiations, but it would be worth it if she and Dawnstar could finally bring peace between the neighbouring Clans.
