Ben's family actually came from an old, traditional section of Inkopolis known as Takoyaki Town, an octoling equivalent to Calamari County. He moved to the city along with his sister, Coral, but were soon forcefully taken away to be conscripted into Octavio's army. When he was in Octavio’s army along with his sister, he was sent to the lab where he would eventually discover how to create a useful chemical for capturing the escaped octolings—chloroform. He, and other high ranking octolings (usually people in the lab, squadron leaders or captains) used this chemical in a spray bottle along with a piece of cloth, and when an unsuspecting enemy inhales it, they get specially trained users to be able to hold them down. They keep the cloth on top of their victim for five minutes before they get knocked out between 20-30 minutes. Thanks to the access of sewer systems, it doesn’t take long for Ben to be able to take the octolings back to their base. Ben wasn’t a high ranking octoling but Aurora found his discovery of being able to make such a chemical to be of use and made him her right-hand man. She relied on him to do missions of stealing weapons or gear that would aid them in larger missions, mostly for gathering a group of octolings in busy areas.

When it comes to combat in the army, Ben was more of a torture person, retrieving information from enemies. However, he never likes to leave a teammate behind and protects them as if they were his own siblings, as he grew up with three sisters. He used to roam the sewers or overworld, hiding a bottle of chloroform to take back Octavio’s army.

Now that he's free, he attends school and excels well in chemistry like back when he was younger. He has a job as a barista at Jelly's Café, but he's studying business in college which leads to his soon-to-be position of manager at Jelly Café. He's currently dating Yumi, who he likes to tease at times, but he's wary of her older brother, Jangnan, who thinks he's a bad influence on Yumi because of his delinquent appearance.

• Has three younger sisters: Coral, and twins Daina and Darika. Their names are in alphabetical order and aligns with eldest to youngest, with Ben being the eldest.
• Removes his piercings during work (health protocols and also for appearance).
• Also uses the Dapple Dualies and Ballpoint Splatling.
• Would be the drummer and vocalist in his two-man band: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
