Stinger didn’t remember anything concrete about his past, at least in the beginning. He awoke in a dark room on a gurney with no name and a small object of another Octoling he didn’t recognize. After being assigned D-10, he would spend his time getting to know the other sanitized Octarians (who weren’t of many conversations) and sneaking out to watch other test subjects.
It was only after seeing the Octoling his small object was based on, that hazy memories came back. He knew those memories were his, but he felt disconnected from them like he was watching the life of someone else in first person.
He watched the other Octoling from afar until she came to his station. Building up the courage to talk to her, he was quickly knocked down with a Bamboozler pointed at his face. The force of his hitting the ground caused his glasses to come off, dazing him and waking him up in a way. He pleaded for survival, but to his surprise, the other Octoling backed off slightly with a wash of familatary on her face.
The other started making furious hand motions, which to his surprise he still understood, trying to convince him that he was “Orion”, that the two knew each other, etc. Stinger got where she was coming from, however, that name didn’t mean anything to him anymore, as he was a new person.
But seeing how much she still loved and cared for Orion, he asked if she could take the time to get to know him and possibly fall in love with him as well. He even told her he remembered her nickname and the meaning behind it. He begged her to give him a nickname in return because he figured it would be something special between them and help Twig move on. She chose Stinger since the Stingray was his favourite special, and he was her special person.
Stinger stood by Twig as she completed the rest of the tests, always waiting with a hug and a gentle push to sit down when she was the most shooken up.
He watched as she gathered the rest of the Thangs, though a feeling he could not place always tugged at the back of his mind. It wasn’t until Twig and Capin Cuttlefish stepped into the Thang and it started up that the memories of his blending came back to him. Stinger rushed to break the glass, only stopping when Agent 3 broke through the ceiling and crushed the Thang.
With Twig ready to escape, Stinger was hesitant to go with her until she forcibly took him by the hand and brought him to the surface with her.
- He received his nickname because his favorite special is the stingray. He didn't know his original name until he met Twig again.
- Despite the fact that Stinger can’t play in Turf wars normally; whenever YiC comes around to practice, he gets a special weapon that refills by him dunking it in ink without fully submerging himself, and a vest that, when hit the same amount as it takes to splat an inkling, stops the ink flow for the cooldown time an inkling is subjected to.
- Stinger’s excuse for why he can’t use his own ink is because he has a weird mutation, and he doesn’t want anyone else to be affected. He saw what sanitized ink did to Twig, but she was able to be decontaminated, wherein the surface dwellers don’t have the necessary tech.
- Stinger still remembers ASL despite never seeing it in the underground (the only other creatures with fingers being the sanitized Octolings)
- The Nicknamer Was the one who gave Twig her nickname based on her size and weight
- Because You Were Nice To Me When Twig knocked him out and got him to basically stop with the sanatized line of thinking; he hung around since he wanted to be lead out of the dark.
- Minion with an F in Evil He was supposted to stop Twig, and yet he ended up joining her on her quest to stop Tartar.

The first person to get close to him post-sanatizing. He helped her, and in turn, she helped him.
Liked him at first, then disliked him when he started attacking Twig. But he grew to like him again once they started hanging out above ground.
Stinger doesn’t remember Agent three either but has hazy vibes from the other. Still, they get along decently well as long as Patrick doesn’t try to start anything.

He knows that he technically was Orion pre-underground, but he doesn't have a connection with that part of him anymore. Sure, he kept similar mannerisms and foggy memories; but whenever he refers to Orion, he calls her "that person" or refers to her in the third person.
Stinger understands that Twig's in love with Orion, but afterwards, he asks if she would take a chance to fall in love with him again.
