Abigail

Personality

Abigail appears as a young adult woman with a sense of humor... to Puella Magi on Earth, that is. In Twisted Wonderland, she appears to not take things seriously, have a competitive or petty streak, and sometimes be a showoff, making her look like a womanchild. Despite how long she has lived, she isn't what one would call "mature". To most, she is a difficult person.

Her true nature is that she is morbid and mischievous. She has difficulty with empathy and connecting with other people, even after having spent years with Puella Magi and growing to care for a few people, which has caused her to lack friends and be mostly alone. Even if she has connections like the Adjuster or North, she ends up withdrawing and isolating herself. She understands the concept of morality and doesn't care for it but she does have some degree of ethics. Her code of ethics is that if something "wrong" like theft is to be done, then there better be a good reason for it. Obviously she wouldn't condone abuse or senseless murder. Despite how lighthearted she sounds when juxtaposed with her morbid nature, she is respectful when it comes to the dead.

Magic

Her primary in-game element is Fire and her Cosmic magic is Dark. In Magia Record, her element would be Void.

She has overall strong magic, having years of living to refine it. She tends to use her magic for shapeshifting but despite her skill, her color palette remains the same. She has a spellbook... in the form of notebooks. Yeah, her spells are made herself rather than taken from existing spells. Part of that is from spending centuries on Earth so she comes up with her own by herself... or try emulating anime, cartoons, and video games for the heck of it. The spells most likely are either war crimes, would cause debates among mages, or have stupid names like "Penis Blast" or "Skidaddle Skidoodle, your dick is now a noodle". She is capable of shapeshifting into animals but doesn't use it much and the animal will always be purple like her hair.

"Memento mori. Everything that lives is designed to end. All Things Must Die."

Abigail's Unique Magic, "All Things Must Die", stimulates and accelerates the death sequence of the target. For inanimate objects, it can mean wearing down the object down to the point that it becomes unusable like how objects can degrade with age especially as they're used. It can be lethal to living beings if left uninterrupted. Abigail doesn't find this UM to be useful. This UM is like how Mitama Yakumo's magic is destructive in nature and reflects Madam Mim's morbid nature. This UM can be compared to Cataclysm from "Miraculous Ladybug" for reference.

Trivia

Theme Grandma - NieR OST

• She has a lot of hammerspace pockets and bags. That's how she packed all her things before going to Earth.
• Abigail has an aura that disturbs those nearby as if in the presence of something ominous like a ghost. The aura can't be hidden or diluted and only few people (magical girls, North, Karma, those who are familiar with her enough, those magically stronger than her) are immune to getting disturbed. The aura is a result of magic experimentation at some point in time, likely the curses associated with being an Adjuster. According to North, Abigail's magic signature is like the smell of decay or withering flowers. Abigail wasn't aware of the aura until told and she has no plans to do anything about it.
• She is aware of the Disney films and has seen them. She intends on keeping them secret from everyone in Twisted Wonderland but can't help making bad references. Her favorite villains are the flamboyant but still threatening ones.
• She has a magic hidden Mickey tattoo that always changes locations and a lesbian flag heart tattoo near her wrist.
• She has played "Winnie the Pooh's Home Run Derby" and speedrun it multiple times. She enjoys the memes.
• She likes evil characters and poor little meow meows. Examples are Starscream (Transformers) and Infinite (Sonic Forces)
• The young woman appearance is not her true form. The old lady is her true form but the young woman form lets her blend in and keeps her from sticking out to Puella Magi. She has been using the young woman form so long that it might cause an identity crisis.
• Despite how her speaking voice sounds, her singing voice is oddly nice... but only when it's songs like the NieR soundtracks with Emi Evans' vocals. She claims to be bad at singing but if she has to sing, she makes it sound grating on purpose.
• Her magical crystal is a lilac tear-drop earring. She keeps multiple magical crystals.
• She still has her broom for flying and can stand on it mid-flight. In modern times, she found skateboarding where she can do tricks that can't be performed on a broom. She plans on getting a real magical hoverboard that she can fly on.
• She used to have a black color palette back then from her clothes to her hair.
• She is a monsterfucker. Unless you are a fellow freak, do not ask about her hear me outs.
• No Man's Land, where she lived before going to Earth, was once a battlefield many centuries ago. The war caused the area to turn desolate and lifeless. In present day, life has gradually returned with plant life growing there again, even taking over her home. (This is based on Mordor from "Lord of the Rings" likely being based on J.R.R. Tolkien's experiences fighting in WW1.)
• She has been to multiple Disneylands.
• She can't see or hear Kyubey.
• She knows about Walpurgisnacht, and has footage of her and news articles of the destruction she brought.
• She knows about the Philosopher Stone, Pernelle (Tart Magica), and Tart (aka Joan of Arc). She likely knows more historical Puella Magi but didn't intervene or have any role in the events.
• She wouldn't have been aware of Puella Magi in Twisted Wonderland prior to going to Earth because of her social isolation.
• The season associated with her would be autumn/fall. It's the transition to winter, melancholia, Halloween, and leaves falling that connects with her.

• Abigail is the name of a historical figure from the Salem Witch trials, Abigail Williams, who present day works sometimes portray as a witch. Mallory comes from an Old French word meaning "unfortunate, unlucky".

Story

Background

She lived as a powerful witch, developing a reputation. She had her moments of mischief, squabbles, and starting fights to the point of being infamous among the nearest villages. She spent her adulthood residing in the depths of a dark forest full of dead trees.

On Earth

She did it! That madwoman did it! She crossed time and space! And made it to another planet! But... magic isn't natural phenomena here. She also had to be careful with her magic to avoid Overblotting. She became subtle with how she used magic and lived alongside humanity, learning as much as she could about it. She started out somewhere in Europe.

She came across young girls capable of wielding magic, and they too had "magical gems" which they call "Soul Gems". They seemed to talk to air at times, addressing it as "Kyubey". Abigail's interest shifted to the Puella Magi. She observed them from civilian lives to battle, noting the parallel between Soul Gems and impurities and magical gems and blot. One day, she learned an ugly truth of Soul Gems, witnessing a Soul Gem transform into a Grief Seed, and a Witch hatch. After that, she continued to watch the Puella Magi. She watched them fight and die in the same way so many times that she grew tired of watching the same thing over and over again.

Eventually, an animation studio in America was founded and released "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" along with many other animated films. Abigail watched the company from its beginning to its rises and falls, seeing familiar faces from past history in Twisted Wonderland. She eventually saw the film "The Sword in the Stone" where she found the resemblance between her and Madam Mim, causing quite the epiphany. She later chose to stay in the U.S.

The Adjuster

21st century. She found her way to a city, and met an Adjuster. She became the Adjuster's adult figure and helped maintain the office while the Adjuster was busy with school and personal obligations. One day... she met North, a Puella Magi who came to get her magic adjusted. While adjusting her, Abigail unintentionally saw her memories, and found a Night Raven College student in those memories, helping her team fight Witches. Abigail then set her sights on on North and Red, going as far as to save them when they should have died and break neutrality, a rule of being an Adjuster.

Return to the World of Villains

Abigail stayed in Kai's Witch labyrinth as North was transported to Night Raven College. Over the school year, she heals Red's body so it can be ready for his soul to unweave from North and return, and watches the labyrinth as it develops. She also makes sure North stays under the radar so nothing can interfere with her healing Red or risk North turning into a Witch, which is part of why North is not a Yuu.
