It's all very explicitly negotiated, but that doesn't mean everyone is happy about how it goes and there's some serious coercion and power imbalance happening bc Yxaga is an asshole.
This is not meant to be portrayed as a fun and sexy time, but rather a 'then and now' character piece featuring a pretty shitty person from Zagan's past and his much better relationship in the present. If you're looking for smut, this isn't it.

Henry's a masochist. Zagan is a sadist. They're married it's all very, very much consensual but there is graphic violence during sex up to and possibly including (impermanent) death in later chapters.
