Kit & Apprentice Life

From birth Spikekit had a regular upbringing with decent parents in Cragclan, although caused a lot of fights with the other kits and apprentices which often left him in trouble. Despite that he was pretty a popular cat and made many friends growing up! Riftpaw took a liking to him as she thought he was pretty funny. The two eventually grew to be mates- although he was known to have flings both as an apprentice and a warrior due to him being sly and somewhat charming.

Warrior

Since Riftbolt was exiled, he too followed her too because he genuinely loved her and was chosen to be deputy due to his loyalty. This is a choice he started to really regret as times got hard and he missed his family and friends from their old clan- thinking often of returning or running away but due to Riftclan's war on the clan...He didnt. He’d left his parents, siblings and what little friends he had to follow these Darkforest warriors…which in all honesty, he didn't care much about in the end. This developed the once selfless, charismatic warrior into a snappy, closed off and bitter deputy most disliked as they killed of Cragclan and Spikeshade didnt participate in most battles.

Perhaps his longing back is what caused him to still have a secret relationship with a cat called Gingersnap in Ratclan. The relationship eventually led to Gingersnap becoming pregnant around the same time Riftstar did. Fearing either being kicked out of her clan or being made to get rid of her kits due to their father, Gingersnap tried her best to make it to Riftclan. She was found by a patrol with Spikeshade and died giving birth. Spikeshade was just grateful he got to say loving goodbyes to her in her final moments and comfort her, promising to take care of her kits.

Spikeshade and Riftstar “adopted” the two kits; Saplingkit and Flailkit. Riftstar noticed how the kits looked a little like him and kinda guessed what he was up to. Although honestly, she was far too busy with both the clan and Midnightkit at the time to really care and laughed it off with a shrug. Spikeshade was incredibly dismissive, neglectful and cold to Midnightkit, yet seemed to love and favor Saplingkit and Flailkit more. The guilt he felt over Gignersnaps death led him to be more possessive and close to his other kits than his own family alive now- feeling like the only ties he had to his old life.

Through the starvation, Spikeshade favored his two kits over himself when it came to prey and only seemed to hunt for them. He gave all his food to them (and also Midnightkit every now-and-then) Which eventually led him to grow weak and starve himself. Over a few weeks of this and little earring, Spikeshade was found dead in his den, having died of starvation.
