About

Kaiser is the classic, intense-eyed man who often prefers solidarity over being a social butterfly. He's the quiet out of the "original three," but he is the one most dedicated in his work. Usually calm and just, the man is still capable of throwing into a rage if someone decides to test his patience. Duncan cares little about politics or bribery, but he still partakes in Prodigal missions because it's his job and it helps him expands his jewelry business. Quite often people mistaken this man to appear upset or angry, but it's only because his eyes are sensitive to light and often squints in response to bright places.

Despite his appearance, Duncan is a clever talker. When selling his work, he knows how to get people to buy them. He's no conman, but he talks enough to make sure he can get things sold.

  • Kaiser's signature is often an engraved "K" somewhere in the back of his work.
  • His preference is working with gold.
    > Duncan has an almost limitless amount of gold that he can work with, thanks to Ouro.
  • Kaiser also practices watchmaking. Though not an experienced one, he's fiddled and fixed watches over the years that he's familiar.
  • His favorite stone is the blue topaz. It's also his birth stone.
  • Duncan doesn't like wearing glasses or sun glasses.
    > He's blind as a bat.
    > Can't wear contacts due to the shape of his eyes.
  • Kaiser has been drinking coffee nonstop. At this point, it's like water to him.
  • Has little tolerance to spicy things.
    > Even ketchup is spicy.
  • Sometimes he loses track of when he sleeps.
    > If he's hard at work, he tends to stay awake for two or three days before he passes out on his work station.
  • He's not angry, he's just squinting... it's bright out. :C
  • Duncan is part of the "original three" members of the Prodigal.
    > The other two being Maximille and Lennox. Many of the younger members refer to them as the "Three Angry Men."

Backstory

(Story) The Prodigal

Kaiser left his family on a sour note, but he never left the craft. He no longer wished to take after the family, but instead he only wished to expand his talent. Leaving the United Kingdom for the United States, he opened up a small jewelry store that resides next to a promising tailor shop.

Overtime the number of clients grew, but his popularity was nothing compared to next door. He was only human, so it was normal for him to wish he had these types of money-spenders like the business besides him. Though one day the owner visited his store, looking as if he was doubting he was going to find anything in his store.
Duncan was a bit offended at the thought alone.

"What are you looking for?"

Kaiser asked him. The man's long hair draped over his shoulders as he turned to him with his brows furrowed, as if offended because he didn't give Duncan the permission to speak.

But despite the unwanted looks they've received from each other, they got along surprisingly well. Maximille was no jeweler, so it was obvious that he needed Duncan's expertise.
Lapel pins and buttons are not his preferred pieces to work with, but having good relationships with the store owner next door, he felt compelled to do his best. The results had not disappointed his acquaintance, and in return he's passed on a word or two to his customers - leaving Kaiser's shop more renown than ever.

Kaiser was thankful to Maximille and soon enough the two of them became friends more than business partners. Though Durand was often busy outside of work, leaving some days where the shop remained closed and he was away on other business. At some point, Kaiser had been worried about the store being closed for a week straight. His letters were ignored and his phone calls were not being picked up.
A day later he was receiving a dozen phone calls that he had to ignore throughout the day due to him attending his clients in the store. That afternoon he'd discover the missed calls were a call for help. And a random man passes him a letter that lead to his friend's whereabouts.

Kaiser found himself in the middle of trying to break through a warehouse. His large build make fighting somewhat easier when Maximille was busy tied down to a chair.

"You look terrible," Duncan said, his body knelt down behind the chair. He lacked a knife, therefore having to use a key to struggle breaking the rope tightly bound to his friend's hands.

"There was six of us making a difference," Max whispered.

By the time Max was free, he said that it was just himself... and one other. Kaiser was unaware what Maximille was doing, but clearly the blood face and dark circle around his eyes made his friend feel worse. He could comfort him by saying that this wasn't all for naught, but it wouldn't make a difference in how he felt.

While Max was in the hospital, he grew curious. And convenience wasn't the word he could describe when his phone buzzed with an unknown number.

"I suppose I should say thank you," The voice was distorted on the other line. "As gratitude, I supposed I can give you some answer to your questions."

Relationships

Maximille  [ Friend ]

Duncan only viewed Max as a business partner at first, but it was time that made their relationship on friendlier terms. Many times customers made rumors about how the two of them are in a "relationship" but the two of them made it clear they weren't interested and proceeded to sputter each other with insults. However, Max is grateful for Kaiser being there when he saved him years ago, and feels as if there's nothing he could do to return the favor.
Duncan's entrance into the Prodigal was not through Maximille, though he had a large connection to it. When Grandfather told him that Kaiser will be part of the group, Durand was not only surprised, but he had no other choice but to show him the works of an Administration Member.

Lennox  [ Friend ]

After Kaiser joined, Lennox had joined soon after. Though, he was more familiar of the Prodigal long before Duncan. He hated Graham's high-and-mighty personality at first, and most especially refused his offer to collaborate several times. And often they'd fight to get Durand's undivided attention. But teamwork between them was going to be inevitable and the Jeweler couldn't stay away from him all the time.
It was until after a few rounds of drinks and some nights together, the two of them became the best of friends... even days where they've left Maximille behind.

Ouro  [ Partner ]

Maximille didn't need anymore guests in the Palace and almost turned down Ouro. But hearing and seeing the most unique condition that this man is dealing with, Duncan almost begged Max to keep him.
When Ouro wasn't needed in the Palace, Kaiser wanted him to stay in his shop to keep him company. It was clear that Kaiser needed his blood more than his companionship, the man still obliged as he enjoyed the feeling of being needed.
Ouro is the main source of Kaiser's limitless supply of gold. Using it to create all forms of jewelry, Kaiser often treated Ouro quite lavishly in return. Others assume that the two of them are in a relationship. Duncan refuses to speak of their connection, while Ouro is fine letting these rumors float around them.
