Personality

Lydia is the supreme business woman - logical, intelligent, a planner, and able to see the big picture. She categorizes the world around her into clear sections and acts accordingly. Lydia is able to take these categories and come up with new ways of interacting with them. This is why people come to her for advice and why she’s so well respected in the workplace.

Although Lydia seems to have a constant scowl, she’s actually pretty easy to get along with. She doesn’t get angry very often, and is always willing to listen to feedback. That doesn’t mean that she’ll implement the feedback - she has to evaluate it and decide if it’s worthwhile. However, she does take people’s genuine concerns into account and considers it.

Lydia is one of the most dedicated people you’ll ever meet. If she’s doing something, she’s going to see it to its completion. It doesn’t matter if she actually wanted to do the thing or not, she’s going to do it so long as it needs to get done. It makes her a good person to have on your team, and she knows it.

People tend to like Lydia, and for good reason. She’s a very charismatic person who enjoys being around people and making sure they like her. Of course, she also has a tendency to be a flirt. It’s never actually serious - she’s married, she likes her wife, and her wife is fine with her being a bit flirty.

Lydia puts in the effort to make sure people are cared for. She’s the one who checks in with her employees, makes sure they’re paid enough, and has even been known to be emotional support at times. Her friends get the same treatment, but with even more love behind it. All of this is genuine - Lydia does care for other people. There’s no performative aspect to it at all.

Design Notes

  • Lydia can transform into the auracorn feral form. She also has a werewolf form, but she doesn’t have control over it.
  • Lydia can summon a light-based horn from her gemstone so she can do magic.
  • Lydia is kinda buff! She works out a lot.
  • Lydia generally wears feminine business clothes. When not doing business, she’s a polo shirt and jeans kinda gal. Tends towards wearing red and other warm colors.

Trivia

  • Lydia is a werewolf! Because there is no moon in the Golden Isles, her transformation is an internal cycle that is accompanied by a magic surge. She’s not actually mean as a werewolf, so long as she eats enough.
  • Lydia has a ridiculously huge appetite. She could eat an entire 3-course meal and still want more. A lot of it is tied to her werewolf form and the amount of energy it takes to transform, but she also just really enjoys food.
  • Lydia doesn’t have any pets - she worries for their safety.
  • Lydia is a genius when it comes to money and math. Seriously, she can do calculations like nobody’s business.
  • Lydia likes to work out a lot. She enjoys it, unlike her wife.
  • Lydia is the CFO of Genesis Children, and has been for quite a while now.

History

Lydia had a fairly ordinary life as a kid. Her parents were quite well off, she did well in school, and people liked her. Of course, she wasn’t a werewolf then, which helped.

As a young adult, Lydia was the kind of person who played the field. She enjoyed getting to know as many people as she could, romantically or otherwise. This led to a very interesting incident where she managed to seduce a visiting panthera. Unbeknownst to her, this spawned the creation of the first - and only - panthera/auracorn hybrid child. And since the panthera had to go back to their homeworld, there was no way Lydia could know.

Lydia would keep up this behavior until one day, when her parents dragged her along on a vacation to the outlands. She wasn’t a fan, so she decided to wander off on her own. While on her own and in the dark, she got bitten by a werewolf, transforming into one herself.

This would prove to change Lydia’s life around - suddenly, she was a threat to society, had no idea what to do with herself, and people wanted to stay as far away from her as possible. She turned to long distance schooling and got herself an education, all the while trying to figure out how to keep herself in control.

Somehow, though, she managed to get a job as an accountant at Genesis Children. It gave her enough money, even if her “mysterious illness” meant that she was unable to work a few days a month.

One day, while trawling the library for useful information about lycanthropy, she ran into Ana. They struck up a tentative friendship. Lydia would’ve left it like that if Ana hadn’t invented her over for dinner and fed her so much good food. Lydia was a bit worried, since she was supposed to transform that night, but Ana seemed utterly unconcerned. Surprisingly, when Lydia transformed that night, she was utterly docile. It turned out that werewolves needed a lot of food because the transformation took way too much energy, so they went kinda feral in a need for food.

At that moment, Lydia couldn’t help but fall a little bit in love with Ana. Of course, Ana fell in love back. Their relationship was slow at first: Lydia was at the time rather unsure of herself and didn’t know whether Ana really liked her or not. It worked out though, and after years they got married.

Lydia managed to work her way up the ranks within Genesis Children. People loved her, and she always provided quality work. It was no wonder that Celeste decided to make her the Chief Financial Officer.

Nowadays, Lydia feels like she’s living the dream. She and Ana are both extremely wealthy and have a nice, cushy life at the top of the world.

Ana Wife

Without Ana, Lydia doesn’t know where she’d be. Probably afraid of herself and cowering in a corner so she didn’t turn into a monster, no doubt. They have a relationship built on mutual trust and building each other up. Plus, Ana is super chill with Lydia being super friendly all the time.

Eleanor Daughter

Lydia doesn’t know Eleanor exists, but if she did she’d feel terrible. And then she’d spend a lot of time trying to make it up to Eleanor and getting to know her. Perhaps one day they’ll meet.

Celeste CEO

Even though Celeste is younger than Lydia, she’s got it together so well. Lydia can’t help but admire her dedication and brilliance. Plus, she’s extremely good at keeping people in line. And sure, Celeste might be a bit terrifying. But so is Lydia, and she’s a werewolf. So who cares?

Maxine COO

Although Lydia gets along with Maxine well enough, she finds herself utterly bewildered by Maxine. She seems almost utterly resistant to Lydia’s friendly charms, which is a pity because they work together very closely. Oh well.
