Echo is a very timid pokemon, her personality coming from her time with her original trainer as well as her inability to hear. Despite her timidness, she is incredibly protective and loving of her team--her family--and she would do anything to ensure that they remain safe and cared for.

Personality

Echo will latch onto those that show her kindness. She is quick to love, but that love is also quick to leave, should that same person show her cruelty. She is a naturally nervous pokemon and often needs validation to make sure that she is doing okay and growing correctly as a pokemon. When showered in love, she will grow all the closer, and her love (as well as her intense desire to protect) will grow too. While she often latches onto people, there is one person (or in this case, pokemon) who she latches onto the most, bonding much like one would with a soulmate.

Background

Echo was born as a Ralts with an ingrown helmet that resulted in her ability to hear being completely cut off, leaving her completely deaf. She grew up with her family, often being left behind or overlooked because of her inability to keep up with what was going on. She was eventually captured by a trainer.

This trainer was intense and wanted her to be the best pokemon on his team. He pushed her to train and train, often to her limits. He didn’t seem to understand that she could not hear his commands or understand what he wanted sometimes. So when she did not listen, he would get frustrated and occasionally take his anger out on her. This turned the already timid Echo into an even quieter and more reserved pokemon.

The trainer came across Naomi one day and demanded that they battle. He treated Echo with similar indignation when she got hurt in battle or wouldn’t follow his commands. Naomi recognized the abusive behavior within the trainer and told him to stop, demanding that he not treat his pokemon in such a cruel way. They continued to fight, and Naomi finally settled that if she beat him in a battle, then she would take Echo from him. He said he agreed, only if he could get her Ninetails if he won. After deliberation, she agreed—however, he didn’t stand a chance and was beaten easily.

With Echo now in her care, Naomi showered Echo with love. It didn’t take long for her to understand that Echo was deaf and she worked out signs and other ways of communicating with her so she could understand things easier. Echo was immensely grateful and easily loved Naomi for her care and diligence.

Echo also grew especially close with destiny, the Fennekin on the team. They were incredibly close as Echo was deaf and Destiny was blind—but they still managed to communicate to one another through their psychic abilities. Even when Destiny evolved into a Braixen, they remained close.

One day while traveling, a storm hits and everyone rushes to a pokecenter for shelter. However in the rush to get to shelter, Destiny got lost and left behind. Echo rushed out to find her when everyone realized at the center The storm raged around them and as Echo searched desperately, she had a vision of the future where she saw Destiny getting hurt by a falling tree in the storm. When she found Destiny, she arrived in time to see the tree beginning to fall. With panic, she evolved into a Kirlia to be fast and strong enough to get to Destiny in time to pull her out of the way and save her. They were inseparable from that point onward and evolved into their final forms together.

Echo is very, very in love with Destiny.
