Profile

I am developing her so fast god I’m roleplaying with her a lil and making her interact with friends’ ocs noo I have a new golden child. Tldr: She’s a traveling naan seller and she just wanna have fun. Her character is fueled by my disease forbidding me from eating gluten and craving naan sooooo bad. I gotta learn to make them myself with gluten-free flour… And then her design is fueled by my newfound love for central Asia. Can’t wait to torture myself by rendering the tastiest looking bread 🤤

She’s a breadseller on the first floor of the dungeon, she loves traveling and selling baked goods (mainly naan) to make money as she does. She has no plot relevance for canon or other ocs’ stories she’s literally just having a slice of life out there. She doesn’t exclusively does business in dungeons when she travels, but they tend to be a market hub so it happens often, there’s a lot of demand for food. She makes everything from sweet naan to garlic naan and naan with nuts, etc etc.
I did do research on central asian fashion and naan recipes for her, but lifestyle wise I’m basing from what I gathered reading Otoyomegatari + adapting to the dunmeshi world, she’s pretty much uzbek and intended to be so but irl nationalities don’t exist in Dungeon Meshi perse, there are just allusions to irl ethnicities and cultures, which is why I write ‘inspiration’ and not just nationality/ethnicity. I’m still a bit unsure on wether to keep her nicknamed Nor for short or not, I kinda like it being like in canon with how some character names can mean a few things depending on minor iterations or such, but it could also be a Shuro-Toshiro situation which I don’t like, unsure yet.

Her main flaw’s that she’s a really bad listener, she’s withdrawn and doesn’t get close to ppl and things are always about her or her things. She’s stingy and very business savvy. She’s super upbeat and personable, but somewhat selfish and rather distant of others. She’s a ‘I socialize rlly well but tbh idc all that much :)’ type. She’s just kinda vibing and making business connections and buying nice scarves and walking around. She’s pretty young and optimistic, but with a surprising amount of life experience.

Part of her love for travel is tasting cuisines around for sure, so even tho she is very much a ‘the way of cooking in my family is the best’ she also experiments a fair amount too, and picks up spices on the road. As for favorite foods, she has her top dishes but in general she has the tendency to change favorites/tastes though, she gets bored of eating the same food quickly (which isn’t always convenient depending on the region she’s in…). She has food hoarding tendencies, which is eased by working as a baker that makes lots of food daily.

She might have met Laios while he was working with the caravans tbh, since she’d travel alongside them when she could. Roads can be ripe with bandits, safer to travel in groups. She’s buddies with Kabru, he’s a regular customer! They’d be close for acquaintances, chatting it up. They flirt but it’s very shallow, Kabru manages to get her to do some discounts sometimes though. He tips, but he also enjoys it as a challenge, a battle of wills you may say 🔥 Nor: "Since you told me I looked extra nice today you get 2% off your purchase today" 😊. They would be so fake together at times lol. He asks her for the news and gosspe from the market, and then she’d ask him about business opportunities around the city. She doesn’t enjoy people watching much, mostly shopping and seeing landscapes and touristy stuff, so she networks but solely for business. And even then since she travels around she usually doesn’t get the time to make herself much of a reputation and connections don’t matter much. She sure knows a bunch of people wherever she goes though! She has a particular interest in historical monuments, though she isn’t very knowledgeable on history and learns about the street culture of the places she visits more than any background influences or history.

Despite the friends she makes, she’ll still up and leave at any given moment, but she’ll remember Kabru for sure. Her baked goods being appreciated always feels great, but it’s extra special when it’s shared with someone who gets it™️ like Kabru. She makes friends easily but don’t keep them well. Besides her distant ‘here for a good time not a long time’ mentality, people often tend to think she’s a little much, they assume that her upbeat touchy demeanor is a business front and not just, well, her.

She’s so not looking for a marriage, she had a fiance once but it got annulled I think. Her home region would do arranged marriages like Laios’ I think. She def has a good relationship with her family so maybe they’re just well off enough to not need marrying her off, they’re supporting of her traveling business regardless though. She exchanges letters with them regularly. She has several siblings! Her mom embroidered her taqiyah (the patterns are pomegranate flowers at different stages btw) but the scarf she bought on her travels. She helped out with baking naan for her family at a young age, and started going to the town market to sell them at around 11, and she left for her travels when she was ~15.

I need to do more naan research but. I feel like if that’s a thing that gets done, naan stuffed with cheese and eaten still warm sounds soooo good… Honestly though I feel like she might be basic otherwise, she tastes so many foods on her travels that just the familiar and rich yet plain flavor of just regular naan would be very cozy on its own. She might be more the ‘add stuff onto it type’.
