Aurore (DMC3 Aurore)

PhantomAlpha

Profile

THIS DESCRIPTION CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR DMC3 AND DMC1

Name: Aurore

Gender: Female

Species: Half-devil

Skills: She's good at singing but pretends to be bad (only Umbra and Vergil know the truth)

Abilities/Fighting Style: i'll make a tab sometime, but mainly uses her scythe and has a gun for range (same weapons as always, see main page ref for weapon appearances)

Height: ~169cm

Affiliation: --

Personality: Aurore is outwardly a happy, energetic little ball of sunshine. She seems to constantly have energy to spare, even after having done tons of work. She has absolutely no problem talking to anyone who comes her way, appearing to be a nice person. However, what she truly feels on the inside is nowhere near as welcoming. Aurore feels very few actual emotions and has a very difficult time comprehending her "humanity", a fact which has frustrated her for many years. Instead, what lurks beneath her false light is a nearly bottomless pit of darkness, stemming from the devil side she possesses a greater understanding of. Sometimes, particularly during combat, this side of her surfaces, and her identity as a merciless and carnage-loving monster shows itself, especially through her ability to kill without hesitation. Despite all of this, though, Aurore possesses a deep loyalty to her sister Umbra, who she would fight for at the cost of her life. Gaining any notable sentiment from Aurore is incredibly difficult, but with effort, it can be done (cough, Vergil, cough).

Story: (contains spoilers for Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 3)

wip. Born to a devil mother and human father, Umbra and Aurore could have been shown the best of both worlds. However, soon after they were born, their father learned that their mother wasn't human, and instead was a devil (he hadn't known before), and ran away, ceasing all contact with them. As a result, Aurore and Umbra were raised by their devil mother, and learned more about their devil side than their human side. Although not the most conventional childhood, it was nice, and Aurore was happy. However, it soon came to an end, with Aurore's world crashing down before her when their mother was killed. Aurore and Umbra barely escaped with their lives, and had to grow up learning to fend for themselves, trusting only each other. Umbra always protected Aurore, getting her out of any bad situations she might have gotten herself into. As a result, when Umbra told her that they should learn more about their human side, claiming that they would benefit from embracing their humanity, Aurore didn't hesitate to trust her and agree to try. While Umbra seemed to be quite good at it, Aurore had a much more difficult time with it, choosing to imitate humanity outwardly in hopes that somehow it would work internally. Despite her efforts, it never did.

Several years later, Aurore chose to separate from Umbra, as they each wanted to go a separate direction. Outwardly, it was nothing more than an innocent "we'll each explore a different place and then reunite later" with no hard feelings. However, internally, Aurore had made the suggestion because she had thought that she had been burdening Umbra and wanted to stop. She also believed that she would be forced to finally understand humanity through sheer necessity if she could no longer rely on Umbra(a trial by fire, if you will). During this time, Aurore encountered Vergil, a fellow half-devil. Deciding that, as their situations were similar, she might be able to learn something from him, Aurore chose to aid Vergil on his quest to gain power. He was skeptical of her motivations, but eventually realized that it was more trouble than it was worth to try to get rid of her. Early on into this collaboration, Aurore realized that Vergil was Sparda's son. But she didn't think twice about it, not having any particular feelings regarding it either way. And so, the two of them continued to work together.

When her collaboration with Vergil eventually led her to clash with Dante and Umbra, Aurore chose to remain by Vergil's side, as she and Umbra never actually fought during the incident. Instead, while they did battle with each other, both Aurore and Umbra did so in a much more lighthearted manner than Dante and Vergil did. The incident in Temen-ni-gru was the first time that Umbra and Aurore had seen each other since they'd split, so while they were shocked to reunite in such a manner, they weren't going to spoil it by seriously arguing. Eventually, after the four of them defeated Arkham, Vergil and Dante fought for the power that had been unsealed, with Umbra and Aurore staying out of their siblingly fight. In the end, Aurore made the fatal decision of staying in the demon world with Vergil when the portal closed, even though Umbra wanted her sister to return with her to the human world. Knowing that Umbra would follow her into the demon world, Aurore took Umbra's sword Salvation and impaled her, the force of the blow carrying Umbra back to the human world. Vergil thought Aurore was a fool for remaining with him even then. Even so, they traveled through the demon world together, during which time Aurore admitted that she liked Vergil and the two formally began their relationship. That is, until the fateful day that they encountered Mundus, when she was forced to watch powerlessly as Vergil was transformed into Nelo Angelo, and she herself made into Lux Messorem mere moments later.

Partner(romantically): Vergil

Family: Umbra(Aurore's older identical twin)

Friends: Vergil

Enemies: Dante

Other:

-Umbra's younger twin sister

-Opposes Dante and Umbra in Temen-ni-gru

-Very good at acting like she is an emotionally functional human, but she very much is not

-Really good friends with Vergil, even if he would never admit it. As for her own side, she didn't think she cared until she did

-While Aurore and Vergil were traveling together in the demon world after the events of DMC3, Aurore confessed her feelings to Vergil and the two of them formally began their relationship

-Would never seriously hurt Umbra ever

-Amazing at fighting, partially because she can shamelessly show her true colors then

-Fights with a scythe for melee and a victorian revolver for range. They're the same ones that she uses in DMC5, so it's the same design(check main page/DMC5 ref for their designs)

Design Notes:

-short compared to Vergil and everyone around Devil May Cry, but is in reality fairly average in height

-on the ends of her sleeves, the darker part of the suns point to the outside(so it's different on each side)

-the sun symbol is only on the right side(her right, our left) of her jacket

-yes, the dark part of her jacket is a hood

-gold part of her gloves points inward(so it's different for each glove)

-her hair is just messy. unlike mr. slicks-his-hair-back-all-the-time Vergil, she puts a grand total of no effort into her hair

-technically identical to Aurore. if you put them in the same outfits with the same hairstyle, theoretically they'd be impossible to tell apart (though their actions would give them away)
