Undying Murder
Staff, rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)
This macabre staff holds the conjoined, taxidermied carrion of crows,
with a faint deathly miasma leaking through their exposed skulls.


Candlesticks in the Dark: While holding this staff, you can use an action to conjure up to 3 Dead Crow Spirits at once.  The conjured crows act independently of you, but they always obey your commands. These spirits are intangible to physical matter and actions, but can still interact with material objects and beings. In combat, they roll their own initiative and act on their own turn, being able to attack enemies directly or carry an item of Weight no greater than 2. Each spirit projects a 5-foot radius aura, which grants a necrotic damage bonus of 1d6 to every attack received to any creature within the radius. The crow spirits are immune to non-magical attacks.
Visions of Bodies Being Burned: While a conjured crow is within 1000 feet of you, you can communicate with it telepathically. Additionally, as an action, you can see through one conjured crow's eyes and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own senses.
Blood on the Rust: All targeting spells, including those of healing, cast by the staff's wielder also receive a necrotic damage bonus of 1d6.
God Bless the Red: The staff grants its wielder resistance to necrotic damage.

This staff has 10 charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend 1 or more of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it, using your Spell save DC and spellcasting ability:

Animate Dead (3 charges)
Control Undead (3 charges)
Speak with Dead (1 charge)

The staff regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff crumbles to dust and is destroyed.

Deathly Screech (Recharge 5-6): The crow spirit emits a terrifying screech. Each creature within 30 feet of the crow spirit that can hear it must succeed on a DC 11 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. A frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the crow spirit's Deathly Screech for the next 24 hours.
