An adorable, bumbling, absent-minded, bookish apprentice wizard, who likes to keep out of trouble, loves hanging out at his dorm alone and in peace and quiet, values orderliness above all and would never think of doing anything unlawful. Will do the right thing in a pinch, even if it means being in danger of being executed for high treason (though he is going to complain about it from start to finish). Also freakishly good with traditional magic and enchantments, because he’s figured out the underlying long-lost language of it without even realizing that he shouldn’t technically be able to do most of what he’s doing. Probably one of the greatest inventors of his world, and even he has no freaking clue.
Despite this, he's honestly a bit of an ass: self-absorbed, haughty, judgmental, passive-aggressive and generally really not fond of his peers. Not a bad person, just badly socialized, secretly struggling with low self-esteem, and generally really damned sick of not being taken seriously, but still not very fun to be around. Unless you're Val, apparently.
Got himself a boyfriend at some point (nice), then figured out that said boyfriend is the crown prince (slightly less nice), then accidentally uncovered a conspiracy to control and then kill the queen - his boyfriend's mother (definitely not nice) - and ran away with his boyfriend to save him (oh gods), which was willfully interpreted as him kidnapping the crown prince and now he's wanted for high treason (W H A T NO). Still got a boyfriend, though! Yay!
