When 'gods' still roamed the surface, they were monsterous creatures whose only goal was satisfying an unending hunger. The gods were banished from their old home and sent to the surface to suffer, when volanos were errupting and making the first continents. Their spilled blood filled the oceans, and life bloomed from their carcasses. As centuries passed and the surface changed in a thriving, luscious world, there were only a few gods left (many dormant deep in the ground, hibernating after thousands of years of fighting) Their anguish, hunger, and desires pooled into a sludge that would eventually become Hades. When the Ichor comet passed for the first time, it ignited her with magic and gave her a true, solitary mind. With her own thoughts and desires, she began finding all the old gods and tending to their graves to allow them to pass in peace. When the first sentient objects appeared, she paid them the same respect as the old gods, and taught fire and how to bury the dead. As centuries passed and the population grew, she found herself burried deep below continously working to free souls from their physical bodies. It was thankless work, and Hades would soon become exhausted with it, and started neglecting her duties (that no one assigned her) Unlike gods who would ravage the world if unsatiated, bodies with trapped souls would become hosts for magic, which would turn the corpses into zombies and monsters. This was unintended, as Hades didn't realize the blood of the old gods had seeped up high enough to affect a seed, a child who would grow to become the first sorcerer, the first magic user. Creator would get in deep trouble with messing mortal souls and magic, and Hades makes it a mission to find him and try to clean up the mess he's left behind on the surface.
Her body is a mix of sludge, gods' blood, and magic, and her flame is where her soul lies. She is sensitive to changes and intense emotions will let excess magic buildup and drip from her eyes and mouth.
