Ava

Ava is just straight-up my oldest character. She’s focused, dedicated, and extremely observant, with a good sense of when someone isn’t being honest with her. Ava often puts on the appearance of being quick to trust, though if you betray that trust, she’s going to hold a grudge for a very long time. Although it seems like Ava is quick to let people into her life and divulge information to them, it’s all superficial; she’s actually a very avoidant person when it comes to her secrets, and she holds a lot close to her chest. There’s like one person who knows most of it, y’all will get to meet him… tomorrow. Ava grew up in a small, semi-isolated commune that worships Arceus. In exchange for acting as his method of keeping the world in check, Arceus has granted this group of people and Pokemon special abilities–for the humans, this is the ability to turn into (most) Pokemon species at will! It takes effort, and it’s not a well-known skill, but it is one that Ava still possesses. Ava left the commune a long time ago, after she got injured sealing away a powerful legendary, and now tries to distance herself from it. Her only reminders of it are the tattoo on her shoulder and her transformation ability, which she rarely discusses or displays to others. Currently, Ava works as one of her region’s two Pokemon professors and top champions! She hands out starter Pokemon and conducts her own research on a massive preserve full of protected Pokemon species living in a wild environment. Her research is about how wild Pokemon create and maintain communities, and how this differs from Pokemon more adjacent to humans (Such as wild Pokemon living in human-populated areas). Her natural ability to talk to Pokemon helps with this research, and she works with a handful of Pokemon who go out to these communities and do scouting on her behalf. She’ll also occasionally go herself, in Pokemon form, but don’t tell her publishers.
