Brennan

This guy. THIS GUY. He’s my second-oldest character but I think Ava technically beats him by a good five years. Brennan is outwardly curt and withdrawn, especially with people he doesn’t know well. He’s polite enough, but if he dislikes you, he makes no effort to hide that dislike. That said, once Brennan warms up to you, he’s probably gonna be there for life. He’s extremely loyal to his friends and to people he considers his responsibility (There is some overlap between these categories). Although Brennan usually puts on a show of not caring much, when he’s around Ava the two of them bounce off each other really well, making jokes, being dorks, and all around acting less professional than they probably should. When Brennan was a kid, he attended several private schools. One day when he was walking home from middle school, he was attacked by a pack of Mightyena. He had a Pokemon to defend himself with, but he really wasn’t any match–until a strange Riolu with a burning silver aura entered the fray and scared off the Mightyena pack. The Riolu ran as soon as the dogs were gone, but Brennan’s ability to see aura, having suddenly manifested thanks to the stressful situation, stayed with him. Nowadays, he can control when he is and isn’t seeing aura pretty easily, but back then he had trouble activating his aura-seeing ability and also getting it to go away. This wasn’t a big deal, really–at least, until a week later, when he was paired up for a group project with a girl that had an aura identical to that Riolu’s. After some shenanigans that are a story for another time, Ava told him that she could shapeshift, and the two have been close friends ever since. Brennan knows more of Ava’s story than anyone else–and it’s probably going to stay that way. Nowadays, Brennan serves as the region’s other Pokemon professor and top champion! His research focuses on designing and creating technology that can aid in the ability of Pokemon and people to coexist. Some of the inventions he’s contributed to include a device that makes it safer for badly injured Pokemon to be recalled and a translator that allows for verbal communication between people and Pokemon! He collaborates closely with Ava for a lot of his research, since she’s more knowledgeable about Pokemon behavior and language.
