Name Meanings:
1. A small brown passerine bird, Alauda arvensis, that sings as it flies high into the air.
2. (dated, originally nautical) To jump about joyfully, frolic; to play around, play tricks.

Relationships: Cuckoo (younger sister)
Background: At some point, while they were both still dragonets, Skylark tried running away with his little sister Cuckoo due to ostracization she was facing at home as a result of her firescales. This excursion was short-lived and the two returned with their heads hung after realizing they weren't equipped to survive on their own. The were promptly separated—Cuckoo becoming "someone else's problem to deal with"—which devastated Skylark. They remained in contact through letters but it wasn't the same. Some time later, he enlisted as a soldier in Queen Phoenix's army despite his interests lying markedly elsewhere. He did this simply because it was a thing to do and he'd had plenty of dragons telling him he had the build for it.
Personality: Just a goofy guy with a special interest in anthropology and biology... who kills a little on the side. He tends not to understand the greater ramifications of social interactions, especially in the realm of politics. He's prone to putting his foot in his mouth. This was especially troublesome when he was in the army.
Trivia:
- Bulky for a SkyWing, much like Cuckoo, with a healthy appetite to boot; there's been speculation on whether his parents had any MudWing in them.
- His chest and forearms are covered in burn scars from Cuckoo. He adorns himself in armor to hide them, though it's more for his sister's sake than his. He's always thought they looked cool, but realized over time that dragons tend to think poorly of Cuckoo if he mentions where they came from.
