Gloria's Links
She was drawn to Ayla from the moment she met her. Something about her innocence and gullibillity set her apart from other rich folks, but if Gloria ever felt a kinship and desire to protect her before they officially got together, she didn't mention it. Push came to shove when the woman realized her position as Ayla's bodyguard was compromised by emotions she hadn't recognized as romantic for a while, and forced herself to leave. To preserve her loyalty to her cause against Geefe nobility.
It wasn't until news reached her that one of Gloria's allied faction of rebels in the city had targeted Ayla specifically and taken her hostage because of an inadequate (or suspected mole) guard, did Gloria drop everything to hurry to her rescue and was forced to face how easy it had been for her to do so.
Long story short, after a few days' worth of deep reflection, including Gloria committing cold murder in Ayla's name and then spending a while both nursing her back to health and trekking her way back to the safety of the nearest city, the women were forced to finally speak to each other, truly, and feelings surfaced.
It's still a tougher ride than either had ever imagined 'love' to be, even after confessions and a decision to follow the pull of it all. Gloria still hasn't cut her ties with rebels and scrutiny is catching up to her, but for now, she's... happy.
Wary of getting too comfortable with things that are too good to be true, but finding it inevitable each time Ayla catches her gaze.
Ayla first met Gloria when she set off from her parents home to travel and see what the world had to offer. She was a rich gal and Gloria a guard for hire, she came recommended and Ayla didn't think twice in hiring her. After sometime traveling together and getting into plenty of adventures and mischief and sometimes escaping by the skin of their teeth, she started to feel herself getting closer to the giant woman.
She soon found herself wanting to get to know her more and felt that maybe it was being returned too...till Gloria just upped and left without even a decent reason why. Ayla became spiteful after being left and to prove she didn't need Gloria's help she went and hired a new guard. Which was a horrible mistake, the pair had made quite a few enemies on their travels and Aylas's oblivious ass didn't realize who she hired. She was kidnapped and after days in the dark she began to realize her horrible mistake and how much she wished she could take back what she said to Gloria. It was in that regret that she finally admitted to herself that she in fact very much loved her and all she wanted was to see her again.
After days of torture and starvation she was eventually found and rescued by her angel and confessed her heart to her.
Now the pair live together and are never far from each other.
One of the few people she doesn’t mind talking to and just enjoying their prescence. They share a hatred, at the very least.
A good quiet friend. He's a little scared of her when she gets grouchy, but he knows it's temporary and not her fault. He does his best to just leave her with a book and make sure she's eating right when she gets like that. Really jives with her analytical and precise habits.
She's well aware her curt nods and otherwise quiet nature make Beleris' nerves run short, but it's the simple things in life that make one happiest, right? She's got her suspicions too and laughs about them to herself at times. Would it not be funny for a grudge on some savages to make someone entirely blind to intersocietal prejudice? Gloria will always consider her own lapses in 'loyalty' nothing compared to betrayal of such large scale.
Yet the only backtalk she's allowed herself around Beleris was curt and entirely humorous in tone. "If you were to be anymore obvious in your suspicions, you'd have to scream them off a rooftop."
"Of course, if I recall your name is Gloria, correct? Keep up the good work."
Those who are rich and powerful and don't pay attention to bodyguards and the like don't last long.
Beleris is wary of Gloria. She prides herself in knowing noble houses and names of wealthy patrons- and she doesn't like the names that Gloria has been attached to. She's yet to figure out her origin or particular motivations, which is vexing for Beleris.
She's a beauty with a sinister underside. They had their fun dance. Gloria did her best to try and figure her out but at the end let her keep her secrets, although indulged her curiosity with a few of her own. Knows she'll keep them.
Doesn't trust her as far as she can throw her but that isn't saying much, all things considered. She gets it, Udara is similar to herself in some ways, with some familial betrayal added in, so she has her grudges. Thing is, Gloria knows people like herself aren't to be trusted.
Found the little bastard off the coast of Mimili and unfortunatelly ended up unofficially adopting him without her own knowledge. He seems way too aware of her hidden affection for him and she does a good job at pretending to be constantly exasperated by him. Would kill for him, but would also murk him in a heartbeat if he keeps getting into so much damn trouble... Caspian knows the intactness of his hide depends on Nathan's safety.
She can be an evil EVIL lady sometimes! I'm just trying to have fun and she's gotta ruin it! Shes.. also too scary to go up against.. also she can be nice at times but... she knows what's best for me and tries to look out and do things like a sister would. I appreciate her kindness- though... don't tell her i said any of this okay?? i gotta keep an appearance going!
Gloria can only hope plucking Herrod out of the fire and chucking him into open water would be safer. She knows about Udara and how well she was treated by him, so she has trust in the Captain of Tiderule halfway as far as she can throw him.
She betrayed her own charge for the price of what, half of the ransom? Fuck...
But it's been a while and no ransom is coming. She either overestimated Herrod's parents or she knew them well enough to know they cared little.
Gloria sees her as a sister and like an older sibling would, she barely evaded murdering the woman that hurt her. Coming into her owner's house as a bodyguard with the intent to gather intel, she ended up throwing plans out the window once she discovered the tortured girl. She's perhaps the only one whose relocation Gloria ever cared enough to overlook herself.
She can handle his hatred more than she can handle his trust. He's not her responsibility anymore, she's done her due diligence to rip him out of the dangerous environment of Geefe and a stepmother who Gloria knows means harm.
