20190402-194002-1.png
Name: Caspian Lutierre, second of Philomena's ilk, the banished child
Called: Cas, a nickname he has a strange relationship with; Captain/Cap, as per Tiderule
Age: 61, born --, Yklavi 16th
Gender: Male, a rarity
Origin: Juuou clan, Oysphe isle
Race Pakaasu, Pakkeli cluster, @Crystalomic
Role: Sailor, warrior
Theme: Wanted man
Status: Comfortably single, pansexual
Lives: On his ship, but owns a house on Raphim

A hardened outer shell with a soft middle would be putting Caspian lightly. The shell is solid metal, beaten into flawless shape and the middle is still warm and molten. Metaphors aside however, the Pakaasu is as Juuou as they come. His past honed his body and mind for warfare and left his soul severely limping, but that's as soft as the Lutierres go. Not his father's family name - his mother's. If anyone was to come out with an unscathed heart from the shadow of that vicious bloodline, it's a creature as determined and strong-willed as Caspian. He's a white-knuckle experience and a bore at the same time, that man. He manages it somehow - being both an enigma and a book so open its spine creases.

Gas color: Mix of grey and turquoise
Limbs: Common, just above ankles/wrists
Crystals: Common, a faint mint glow
Eyes: Turquoise eyes and lighter lashes
Hair: Short and slicked back. Stray hairs are the devil.
Clusters: 8, both sides of neck and face, hipbones, edge of pectorals
Skintone: A dull grey-brown
Height: 6'8 and way too proud of it
Markings: Black cracks up arms and legs
Style: Keywords: Elegance, gold, black.

Preferences

Likes

  • Calm, 'ritualistic' actions: Watching someone put on makeup or comb long hair, the process of beading, sword-polishing, cooking shows, to be continued.
  • Clothing that resembles or mocks the royal family, golden adornments, trinkets, professionally made and resilient garments and weapons
  • Darker colors and, surprisingly, neon in tasteful doses.
  • Sea shanties, singing, if you can believe it.

Dislikes

  • Weaklings. Those that blame-shift and cannot carry their own weight even with added help. Those that burden more than help. He tries to remedy this often. If not, he stays away.
  • Dull tastes. A result of his nannies' atrocious cooking and the memorable herbs his adoptive father used. He has eaten healthy for decades, though grudgingly. Likes spices.
  • Dishonorable battles. Unfair wins or losses. His own or others'.
  • The type of arrogance that clueless idiots have.

If there's one solid good thing to say about Caspian Lutierre, it is that he tries his best at every stretch of the road. Whether it's hell, high water or the beliefs hammered into his head, he's prepared to jump through any obstacle for a worthy endeavour. Granted, it takes a lot to make a man so fond of living on his own terms inconvenience himself for others, he's almost childish about his self-sufficiency and stubbornness. He tries to raise above the flock, refuses to listen. But you may find that the vain, elegant creature, though subtle, sometimes finds a cause worthy enough to give his all to, and then he's unstoppable. You may find a lifelong friend. OR a lifelong enemy. He's in it for the long haul, always, whichever the case!

However. 'Kind' wouldn't quite slide off your tongue if you tried to describe the ambiguous Pakaasu. He's considerate. He's understanding. He's as agreeable as a flick of a coin allows. Has a few good jokes up those voluptuous sleeves. But kind has nothing to do with him... He's neurotic, a perfectionist, and a thorn in the side of peace and whatever life plans anyone standing in the way of his decisions might have. First of all, the only noise he'll ever enjoy is that of a packed sparring gym or crashing waves and none other. Too many voices fill a room, make it feel cagey. Being loud is for disrespectful idiots and disrespectful idiots only. Second of all, it doesn't matter how much he might need or enjoy your company, he. doesn't. want. it. It's one-man survival or death in this world, mother said, and he's not going early. Third. Most important. You can't break a 40 year cycle. Not when there's a switch down in his head that refuses to accept certain things. He's only willing to properly learn if the teacher doesn't judge or berate him and a Juuou can rarely find that sort of agreeableness from others. He refuses to stoop so low as to admit his wrongs. Now, he's not solidly set in his ways where awful things are concerned - other than Juuou tendencies that he hasn't shaken - hasn't found the need to anyway. All's fair in love, war, politics and quite a few other topics he's lenient about. But a Juuou as traditionally raised as him knows not all are equal and the measure is strength, like it or not. For those weaker than himself he holds pity, care, a desire to teach. But with all that said... they are weaker.

Navigation

Strength:
Not the smartest pea in the pod where cartography is involved, but the night sky is a map he can read flawlessly. Why bring a compass when you have thousands of little guides lighting the way? He trusts stars more than devices.

Combat

Strength:
A past as a fistfighter forced him to learn. Enemies are by far the cruelest teachers... and the best future friends. They teach you it's rarely about how good your right hook is, it's useless without speed and smarts. It's useless if the first punch knocks you out cold.

Weapon dexterity

Strength:
He's a virtuoso with a rapier and had touched no other weapon for some 3 decades before he tried his hand at archery and fell in love with it too. While he wasn't a natural at either weapons, his excitement trumped all failures and he excelled. Trains daily.

Medicine

Strength:
No matter the effort put into learning, the Pakaasu can't even take care of himself medically, much less others. He's been intently staring at healers' working hands for years now, learning nothing. His attempts at bandaging resemble a clumsy sparrow trying to build a nest.

Background

Born a soldier, raised a soldier, meant for war and doesn't mind it. Tight household, taught to be relentless, ruthless, rough, and that's just the r's. Mother was a weathered, cold warrior, father found his calling in training her and many others, they weren't married when they conceived, Caspian (and his sister) was as much an accident that was allowed a life as he was a calculated few months of pregnancy break for his mother so she could supply the army. She hated both her children and the process, was unafraid to let them know, yet a child will hear others say words like 'mother' and 'father' and wonder, won't he. She was Philomena Lutierre and he was Imre K'ta and they had a... thing. A mutual thing. Called Caspian and Regina. Not much else to say...

While their birth parents dictated their warrior journey, the true raising was done by Livien - a Kiiai slave Imre had gotten who was brought into his house, came upon Imre's still nameless 3 year old daughter that could barely talk and instead of killing her as revenge decided 'screw this, you and me, we're in the same boat', and named her Regina. Caspian was dumped into his lap as an infant a few years later. And he actually put effort into raising them. Livien is likely the only difference between Cas and Gina and the rest of the Lutierre children, and the reason they didn't grow up to be anything like them. In short, thank goddess for him. Sadly, he was kept out of the training fields where the sibling duo was soon brought and where the rules were dictated by others.

Teenagehood went as follows: hormones kept to a minimal, meltdowns isolated in the training field, anger well (mis)directed, crushes buried and unexplored, just like any emotion other than rage

By the time he reached adulthood he was amongst the top of covert, nighttime fistfighting groups, a thoroughly trained warrior, burnt out and in love with the stars. Semi-famous and heckled for that one time he got stranded on a far cliff during tideturn and after a particularly victorious swim competition. And another time nearly losing his life in a dingy due to particularly rough winds. He was smart enough for the beyond. Ocean, sky, anything but the limited patch of land he knew inside and out that he was stranded on.

Banished out of nowhere from his family, disowned alongside his sister. Kept quiet and resigned about it, the details evade everyone else.

Hijacked his first ship when he and Gina found it docked in the icy coasts of Oysphe - a cracked and weathered thing of Juuou origins, which ended up almost taking Caspian's life... Yet he sailed away with his sister and rarely looked back on Raphim... The ship's gained notoriety and a fair amount of sinister tales surrounding it and its members. Few dare board the thing even when given the chance. Talks of blood spilt on board and over it, monstrosities manning it instead of men and women, or straight up ghosts, since the two didn't take on any crew for a while... All in all, the White Lady is a myth of a ship.

Story

1. Hijacked another ship two years ago with a less-than-pleasant, bad-tempered addition to its hull called Udara. Kept the ship but decided to rid of her. Stranded the crew on a lost isle. Thought to ransom Udara but ended up cutting a deal to return her to safety. The ship was part of their agreement. Within a few months in his grasp, it was entirely personified in appearance, reigned terror on a few nearby isles and has surely lost its appeal to the Geefe. What self-respecting Pakaasu of that clan would want to take and sail with the formidable beast that is the Tiderule, a Juuou ship through and through now. Besides, the few dings it suffered from having an initially tiny crew have soured some of its beauty. Oh and in the meanwhile he discovered the woman that had been on board originally might have been accidentally saved by him.

2. Got Tiderule and sailed to Mainland first thing. The culture shock was real... The place required patience and careful consideration, which Caspian possessed little of around the Pakkeli, all things considered. The last thing he wanted to do after such a long trip and new discoveries was to backtrack into his former brainless-fist status, but... needs must. Fidelio satisfied the itch in his knuckles more than readily and soon he found himself a nifty little underground place for fistfights to pour all of the anger out in. There, he met Kalama. And was promptly pummelled, for the first time in years. They formed an interesting relationship sealed in blood, drink, pain and a few waywards laughs shared in late-night pubs. He was loathe to leave, surprisingly, but had to go.

3. Gained himself some crew.

4. Gina took the White Lady with her back to Oysphe once they got wind of another of their siblings catching an unfortunate fate... She's on the lookout for any indication that the diagnosis (hypothermia) was a lie.

5. Returned home for a second, met Cion and Orinda, took them to Rot and Rose to get transported to Mainland. Personally transported Besaid and her lover and dropped them off at the Thieves' Guild step.

Livien

[ adoptive father ]

Taken from his home, stuffed into his enemy's house and left alone with his children. And instead of leaving a massacre for Imre to come back to, he raised the little hellspawns. Caspian and Gina both know they owe him their lives.

Imre

[ biological father ]

He fell into bed with Philomena Lutierre out of grief and desperation and then abandoned his two mistakes. Left them with a man who hated him... And then years later, he assumed he had a right to be in their lives...

Regina

[ sister ]

They hated each other for so long and they were so different, but they manage to both not kill each other and co-exist for two decades on the same ship. Somehow each other was the best they had in the Lutierre family. Ouch.
