Caspian's Links
A noblewoman of the Geefe that boarded a ship with unfortunate fate. Caspian's aim to steal the vessel itself ended with him having to deal with her coming into his possession as well. And it was an ordeal alright...
In return for a Geefe trade route he was more than happy to release her and hasn't lived to regret that decision. After all, a woman that would sell even her own people... that isn't a woman you'd do good trusting. Come to find out, she was just returning the favour.
Birds of a fuckin feather aren't they?
Udara has sold him information about ships many times before. Its to repay him for her freedom when he happened to find her ship when she was younger.
His kryptonite for a while. Something vicious and blissfully unreachable that he left with equal parts wistfullness and relief. Their drinks were enough, so were the brawls, whatever has stirred within him amidst adrenaline-fuelled frenzies has been long buried. Out of sight... out of mind.
She won't let it be known but she cares for the fool, well as much as person like her can. The training is enjoyable and their drink talks are always nice, she sometimes finds her clam like personality opening up around him...but then she just flips him on his ass.
Can't have him always thinking she's reliable but she knows she'll come running if he ever really needs her help.
Poor thing. Yet Caspian holds no pity for him. Only the mild and strange compassion he reserves for those whose future he can practically predict. The juuou idly wonders how many more betrayals he can handle before those tall walls of pretence break. And if he himself can speed up the process.
He's grown up alongside her, fought her, admired her, looked up to her and yet left her without so much as a goodbye. So much for the only long-standing friend he'd ever had. But he's had his chances to make up for those mistakes by keeping her secrets. He looks at Cionaodh and his Orinda and can only think of a woman that deserves that kind of happiness.
It certainly hurts a bit that we grew up in such closer quarters; sparring partners, allies, friends... and yet he could just vanish on my like that. However, that guilt may have been just the leverage I needed to get some help... if the "old friends" bit didn't work to persuade him anyway. Oh what fun it would be to remain and pester him on his seafaring adventures, but I have some plans of my own to carry out, so I suppose sneaking a ride once in a while will have to do. Regardless, it is good to know, at least, that my old friend is still kicking.
He's a stupid young boy fresh out of teenagehood and he thinks he can make up for all the wrongs in the world, starting with a woman he only knows the hardship of no less. Stupid, foolhardy boy in love. And yet Caspian agreed to help him. So what does that make him...
He strikes me as a bit of a cynical bastard at times, but he's a cynical bastard that I can trust much farther than many others in these goddessforsaken isles. There is none that could get us to the ferry faster, nor safer that Caspian and his Tiderule, it is a ruler of the tides after all. I'm in his debt, undoubtedly, and will be even more so in the future I'm certain...
Genuinely didn't notice him the first few days of hangover-riddled haze and then had arguably the most surreal moment of his life discovering that 1. he knew the guy's name already 2. he wasn't a pakaasu and 3. he'd been helping out on the ship. In Caspian's defense he didn't even know where he was at the time. Suffice to say the captain of Tiderule needed a solid lay down and a vow to never touch mainland booze. But he kept Endral. Everyone on board had grown fond of the stray already... One supposes he's not bad for a Pakkeli.
Endral has called him 'Castian' and 'Captian' instead of his name or Captain more then once.
Aside from that he's pretty chill with the guy. He's considered slipping away again to try and look more stylish like the captain, but aside from that he's a permanent casual feature to the ship.
Kidnapping and ransoming? Yeah sure he guesses they do that. Yar har har and all that.
Cute, witty, good cook and semi-lethal with a ladle. That last one should have been an awful first impression but he was running from Kiiai guards after having docked in Pizzleti and knocked out a florist, a hit to the head could've hardly lead to even worse decisions. But the one to offer Uri to board wasn't such a bad one, he'll admit... It's one wrench thrown into his plans of grandeur that's made him realize he enjoys the quiet comfort of a shared bed more than the buzz of a fight and candlelight cast upon long hair more than the glimmer of gold.
What is there to say? I know he can be a bit hard on the outside, but I've seen the softer side to him.
I know we got off on a bit of a bad footing, but to be fair, he was trespassing in my kitchen. I decided to help him, I always try to be kind and help those in need (Him being handsome had nothing to do with it!). Cas invited me to come with him, aboard his ship, which I was more than happy to do (was not going to risk being sent to Raki for breaking clan law).
I love when we get to spend time alone together. Just... talking. I do also like when we are more intimate, but it's a rarity at the moment. I don't mind too much though. I love him, and I know he loves me too, Just not sure how much...
Yet another Pakkeli that overlooks dark dealings with ease. A beautiful, dangerous woman with power. But one that doesn't abuse it. Consider him drawn. Maybe for all the wrong reasons of seeing someone else in her...
A man of the sea, and oooooh what treasures he has brought me. I'll certainly have to repay him for bringing my two newest family members to the mainland... I can't wait to experience Pakaasu~<3
"Swooning pavesi? I don't know, do they? Do you?" He can come head to head with Syu in these little battles of wits and banter with the best of them (even enjoys it at times) but has never fully relaxed around her. She's something alright, keeping him on his toes and not many unarmed folk can do that. It garners his respect and occasionally peaked nerves. As if he needs more trouble...
"A Pirate Captain! How in-ter-est-ing~ Tell me, do you make the Mervesi swoon and the little Ferry Co shake in it's boots?"
She says backhanded compliments with a sardonic smile and probably made the Ferry Co. and Pirates deals so much worse.
Yet another naysayer of many and part of the few that make him feel defensive about it to boot. Something about her borderline motherly disappointment rubs him the wrong way...
"I can't say I approve of you on a professional level, but on a personal level, I can see all the Ori's and Cion's to safety in the mainland."
She gives him rueful and dainty smiles, and though she wants to free the ransomed prisoners he has, she'll stay her hand to offer it for the ex-slaves Caspian brings to the Rot and Rose.
Something tells him she'll go through with any threat she makes. That is as admirable as it is disconcerting considering he hasn't done anything to garner one of those, in his humble opinion. She's not swayed by his diplomatic streak, sees right through that veneer and leaves him as insulted as he is impressed.
"I'm watching you."
Mortis doesn't trust Caspian- and if he's in the area she's by Roselia's side 24/7. Her opinion of him is almost frozen in distrust, a sign of her more zealous stubborn nature.
A spark from his youth than never got to be a flame. Amidst the gruelling training and all the bruises, she was a breath of fresh air and one of the few things that made everything bearable. But with his stiff conversation and then-shy disposition, he never really got as far as to confess whatever feelings he buried deep. Nowadays he remembers her fondly and appreciates her for what she truly was - an anchor in a stormy sea. He only hopes she's safe... and happy.
Spent much of her youth worrying about him as she went through her medical training. She admired how hard he worked, how hard he tried, and always did her best to patch him up afterwards. Having not yet determined the limits for proper interaction with patients, she wasn't able to get very close to him and, truthfully, could barely hold a conversation. Sometimes, she walks along part of Raphim's shoreline and gazes out at the sea, wondering if the boy she knew is still working hard, still trying... She should have said something to him when she had the chance.
He'd left before she'd come into his brother's possession but one mention of Claus and he understood why Cion couldn't leave her. He's done his due diligence to help her and atone for whatever sin he'd committed by not strangling Claus in the crib. He didn't bother her nor talk to her much during their short trip, but can never shake off feeling dirty under her gaze. Feeling more Lutierre than he had ever wanted to feel...
I hope I don't look too antagonistic to him, but when I see him all I can see is his brother. Is he as cruel and harsh? Is he going to wait till our guard is completely down and then turn on us last minute? I can't shake the paranoia, but I know he is different, and he must be kinder elsewise Cio wouldn't trust him... surely...
"Turn around. Close your eyes." He somehow managed to seem like he was a single frayed nerve away from bouncing with excitement even while wearing a pursed, focused frown. His forehead was creased. Picture perfect nervous schoolboy.
Odd for a man that'd just raided a Geefe transport boat and robbed 10 sailors down to their belt buckles.
"It's the first i touched so it's the first treasure I took. The very first."
Gold fit her, he concluded while resting the heavy necklace around her throat. It was thick workmanship of many delicately laced details, laden with fire agate stones. The biggest one reflected the light and glowed orange like a flame had been lit within it. Yes. Fitting.
Caspian closed the clasp and stepped away. His chest was puffed out almost formally. Behind his back he rung his hands together.
"It's a thank you. A small one, but it's what i could afford." A small stiff smile finally graced his face. "Unless you're interested in some gold belt buckles."
I would call him a pest for the way he just keeps turning up in my life, but there's such a charm to him there, and I can't bring myself to leave him stranded when he gets his ass left behind. He wears my sass well, and I certainly wouldn't mind the occasional fling or treasure in return for all the pick ups~
He regrets ever looking upon her with hatred and jealousy and ever living to see it returned. What he took as a smug brushing off was her acceptance and unwillingness to fight. But he supposes that's how it went - she was tired of him, he hated her and Philomena took advantage. Shattered things irreparably between them. He stills wonders though, about what she would have done. If it hadn't been Philomena they'd had to prove themselves before - if it were Imre, or Livien. But he can imagine the conversation:
"Would you have? If it were your fathers standing there telling you to kill me, would you have?"
"They love you. If they've ever hated someone, it was deserved. And if they ever were to want someone killed, I'd do it myself..."
The younger brother that she doted upon the moment he was dropped off at their foster father's feet. The smart, closed off one to her dumb strength, she would say. There's always danger in inheriting anything of Philomena's and with Cas it was more than her color... They were like her and Imre reborn and the dynamics applied there too - he (Philomena) was always the quiet and conniving snake and she (Imre) the one to taunt it and almost get bitten. And yet. He's her snake. Perhaps you can't fault a cornered animal for striking. But was he cornered at all?
While they've had the occasional stiff intellectual conversation, there's always the rigid feeling of nervous respect Caspian hasn't managed to shake. Kept him from loosening up around Angelus and he suspects that's for the best. He wonders when that loyalty to violence and Juuou would ever get him anywhere. Nowadays just feels like wasted potential. A mean-lookin gargoyle Caspian used to itch to awaken.
Would rather die than admit to any attraction. Hopes he didn't sing like a songbird during any outings with booze.
At first Caspian thought the man was Geefe navy and tried his usual approach towards the aforementioned - if not plunder then at least hefty annoyance. Even after discovering that to be untrue he still harnesses Varis' general dislike of other seafarers as fuel.
Their relations are understandably and wearily chilled. But then Caspian trades fairgame with anyone so it might be a WIP.
He doesn't pass up an opportunity to blow a kiss her way while escaping yet another one of her ingenious capture plans. He has to say, she's awfully cute when she's mad. Or when she's embarassed.
Has offered the stubborn woman multiple chances for parlay on one of the Lost Isles and is patiently waiting for her to tire from her pursuit and accept.
Her fists automatically curl when she thinks of this man, and her brain begins to work in fervor over all her failed plans to bring him in.
You can tell when she's thinking of him as her face will blush extremely so and will often go into rants about his unfathomable luck in escaping her.
If they weren't in the position they were in life they may have been very good friends, maybe more, but alas she's relentless in her pursuit of justice.
As of now she refuses the mans offer for parlay, she wants to win this her way and she just doesn't want to give him the satisfaction.
Little creep appeared out of nowhere and unlike Endral's arrival, it wasn't just Caspian that was struck by his presence. No one knows where he's come from or why, but his thirst for chaos and blood provides a bit of solace for the captain - he hasn't killed them all in his sleep yet (likely due to the frequent graveyard shifts Caspian himself does to look over his crew). Same for his childish thieving antics and general trouble.
Caspian is still considering if his horns would make for nice enough teacups.
I kinda just popped up on his ship and tagged long for the journey. Of course im loyal to the cap' but you never know~
I do love messing around on board and its HILARIOUS when 'cap gets mad at me. I swear one of these days i will ACTUALLY get turned into a tea set- but thats an adventure for a different time!
Caspian is someone i personally look up to, though hes pretty cool calm and collected im quite the opposite, thats why i think we make a great team! I also believe that we should go on another voyage- pleaaase pleaase! ill go nab some beer and then we can skedaddle!
The one pakkeli he's fairly trusting of. Her curiosity and knowledge of things beyond his grasp make her an invaluable asset to the ship and he's given her the navigation torch that he unsteadily held for years. Now they're much less likely to make dangerous detours than before under her guidance. He occasionally joins her in the crow's nest and lets her talk his ear off gladly. He tolerates her chatter because it's never pointless to listen to.
For a man that saved his life, Byakko is still unfairly treated with wariness. Cas holds respect for him and Regina seems to like him well enough but the man's eerie accuracy makes Caspian stray from any unnecessary visits. Is he that damn easy to read and unravel?
When he let him and Regina stay at his home for a few night. He felt an aura of a man that was harden by beatings, determination, blood, and (if he were to give this feeling a name) horrors of his past. Though he doesn't have much of an opinion of Caspian, but he doesn't hate him.
"See, when even the demon spawns of Juuou only cared enough to make you a guard dog and nothing more, you've got to wonder where you went wrong in life, 'auntie.'" He'd smile at her through his teeth over a thin sliver of ocean between two ships. "We're captains at least. And you are? I think your name slipped my mind."
"My sweet nephew, I haven't seen you since you were a little puff of smoke in your mother's arms."
She smiles at him, but she knows he see through it. What island did they cross paths at? What bar- what beach? It doesn't matter much, because it's as cold as Oysphe when she's around.
"I might say you are a disgrace to your mother, but let's face it- she was a mistake too. Still, I'm surprised to see you fairing better than your sister. She used to be such a... fighter... I suppose."
The dainty woman spends her money in all the wrong ways, Caspian thought, like paying man who'd captured and freed her friend for a price. Nowadays he thinks this uncharacteristic gratitude means Udara might've escaped something even worse when Caspian had come upon her ship. He doesn't mention it, he's got no right to question them when they let him keep Tiderule and even affiliated themselves with him. Now he can only promise to remember H'elmii if he ever needs to relocate Herrod somewhere safer as well.
She betrayed her own charge for the price of what, half of the ransom? Fuck...
But it's been a while and no ransom is coming. She either overestimated Herrod's parents or she knew them well enough to know they cared little.
Gloria can only hope plucking Herrod out of the fire and chucking him into open water would be safer. She knows about Udara and how well she was treated by him, so she has trust in the Captain of Tiderule halfway as far as she can throw him.
