One dark, foggy day, a RidgeClan patrol came across a weak Taiga suffering from frostbite. The patrol quickly took him to the medicine cat to get treated, and unfortunately he lost his tail, but managed to recover with a few frostbite scars. He claimed to of come from the frigid mountain range, but came down to the valley to find a group of cats to pledge his loyalty to, which would be RidgeClan if the current leader, Heron’Star, allowed him. He agreed, with the exception that he would have to pass a warriors assessment in order to be accepted into the clan. Despite the extra difficulties that Heron’Star had implemented, he passed the assessment with flying colours, and was given the suffix ‘Pounce’ for his ability to jump extremely high and far.
Unfortunately Heron’Star was not a great cat, power-hungry and full of himself. They had killed the leader before it as soon as he was chosen as deputy, and they planned to lead the entire valley with its subjects fearing him. In order for this legacy to continue, Heron’Star decided to try and manipulate Taiga’Pounce to make him the perfect cat to be their protege, and was delighted to see this work. Unfortunately for it, Taiga’Pounce had learnt about this plan a long time ago from the medicine cat at the time, and was simply playing along to be assigned as RidgeClan’s deputy.
After countless moons of Heron’Star’s tyrannical rule, he finally passed away. As soon as Taiga’Pounce became Taiga’Star, he worked as hard as he could to fix what Heron’Star had broke, and although it was hard, RidgeClan eventually rose back to their previous glory. Taiga’Star was praised by cats far and wide in the valley from saving RidgeClan from falling, despite not even being clan-born. After countless moons of the peaceful and protected rule under Taiga’Star, he decided to retire from his role once he hit 144 moons, passing the leadership of RidgeClan over to his trusted deputy Puma’Call.
Taiga’Pounce spent his elder-hood being treated with the upmost of respect for his heroic deeds. Despite his old age, he still liked to help around camp on occasion, such as pulling crowfood out of the fresh kill pile or helping the medicine cat sort the herbs. He often found himself telling stories about his old life before RidgeClan and stories about his time leading RidgeClan to curious kits and inspired apprentices, something he admittedly enjoyed doing.
One fateful night, 42 moons after his retirement, Taiga’Pounce passed away peacefully in his sleep. The entirety of RidgeClan was absolutely devastated, surrounding his body in the camp clearing, mourning him and sharing the memories that they had with him for most of the day. His body was buried during sunset in one of the highest peaks in the burial grounds to remember where he originally descended down to RidgeClan. To this day, his grave is well taken care of, surrounded by gladioluses to honour his heroic strength.
