From early on in his childhood, Karis knew that he was not the leader that his family wanted him to be. Despite being labelled as the crown prince of Cecelih and having the signature blue eyes of his family, ruling was not in his blood. He was too thin, too soft-spoken.

Despite this, under the iron hand of his traditional-minded father, Karis was taught to hate everything about his life--although not intentionally. Dancing and cooking were women's hobbies; he was meant to rule and protect.
