gels

gels is an idol from inkopolis square who experienced a meteoric rise to fame after her debut in february 2018. she's always grateful for her fans' support, and works hard to repay them by putting her all into her performances. she loves to make people happy, and inkopolis youth is captivated by her soothing voice and graceful movement. in her interviews, she's shown to be incredibly kind and appreciative. her devotion to making her fans happy has earned her the title of "the people's angel."

design

gels has two notable designs: her public persona (stage outfits, interviews, etc), and her private persona. feel free to draw either one!

some commonalities that apply to both:

• please make sure to include her earrings! they're very important.
• her eyes will always have a white, four-pointed star.

stage outfits

gels' most recognizable feature is her drill pigtails and the white 4-pointed star in her eyes. her public image as an idol is curated around being heavenly and graceful, and her outfits are reflective of this. some common themes in her stage outfits:

• white is the main color, and pink is the secondary color. gold is used as an accent.
• they often incorporate heart and/or wing motifs in either the jewelry or lace

incognito

when gels wants to have time to herself, she tends to wear monochrome athletic gear and a black facemask. the shoes are the noir guppies!

by default, she usually has black hair, but feel free to use any ink color (EXCEPT pink). some color variations below:

history

from a very young age, gels knew that she loved performing and singing. she's multi-talented, and had a natural inclination towards singing and dancing. gels' parents recognized her passion, and enrolled her in dance and singing classes to help further her skills.

in mid-2017, gels auditioned to an agency in hopes of becoming an idol. the judges were impressed with how gels could hit high notes with ease, as well as her ability to hold notes for a prolonged period of time. she was signed onto the agency, and worked very hard in writing her debut single.

she released her debut single through this agency on february 16, 2018 ME. it was a smash hit and went viral overnight, leading to gels' meteoric rise to fame. people wanted to lend their unconditional support to her because:

• her music encapsulated a very hopeful and optimistic vibe, and felt very motivating to listen to
• the visuals were really good. people enjoyed the color grading, the choreography, and gels' outfit.
• a few interviews aired beforehand, and people thought the way she conducted herself in them was incredibly professional (she was very polite, humble, and openly appreciative of the staff that got her to where she is today).

from that point onwards, gels worked on producing more music. some examples of what her work as an idol entails:

• dance practices- for learning new choreography and practicing old routines
• singing and recording in studio!
• performing for music videos; this sometimes involves multiple takes.
• practice run-throughs for concerts (to make sure audio equipment is working and that she and her staff know when to time things, etc.)
• doing interviews! usually this happens before/after the release of a new single/album or concert
• autograph signings! she is very kind and sweet to her fans; clips of the nice things that she says to them often circulate squitter
• showing up for the occasional award show to either perform or receive an award. the choreogrpahy and staging goes crazy bonkers for these and lots of recordings at the venue tend to be posted on squitter and get a lot of traction
• occasionally, she's asked to model for things. it's not her main line of work, but she collaborates with a few dress companies

her love for her craft does not go unnoticed; several of her fans use squitter and SeaTube to share clips of gels' work and share their love for what she does. this has gotten her lots of attention very quickly, and she does her best to meet these expectations (and often shatters them).

by the time 2023 came around, gels has amassed a large following, and was about to embark on her 5-year anniversary concert as a way of thanking all her friends. however, this all came to a screeching halt; during one of her concert practices, gels passed out, and she was hospitalized for overwork. this incident caused a lot of distraught and unrest for her fans, and squitter users ran amok with speculation as to what happened to gels.

after a few months resting and recovering, gels rescheduled her tour for a later date, but also vowed to commit to a more sustainable work/life balance for herself.

trivia

• some of her fans have dyed the tips of their tentacles pink to show their loyalty and support to gels (most notably, lee and sydney)
• replicas of gels' earrings are available for purchase! sydney has them, and wears them from time to time.
• she voices whiffy the squiffy, and wrote a commercial jingle for dolphin. (the specific time of when whiffy debuted is currently unknown but i'll figure it out later 👍)
• while she has some similarities to beau, the two are unrelated. some of gels' fans have asked beau if they were related, and he simply replied: "gels? i love gels! they are such fun desserts. i have one right here. do you want to try it?"
• she loves eating desserts! beau's bakery is among one of her favorite places to visit.
• if sydney ever ran into gels in public, he would be among the few people outside of gels' staff that can recognize gels even when she's disguised, largely because he's followed her work since her debut. he tries to not make a big fuss about it.
• of all my ocs, gels took the longest to design. as a story concept, she was originally conceived back in may 2023...? but i didn't come up with her hairstyle until march 2024... and her outfit in september 2024... remember everyone... its OK if u take ur time with it
