For starters, Cloud was born with a defect in his right ear that's made him mostly deaf in that ear but his left ear is perfectly healthy. Cloud is Griffin's BFF and would do anything for him. The two of them first met back at Griffin's second birthday party. Cloud was friends with Griffin's older brother whom Griffin ended up being basically glued to the entire time out of shyness. However once the toxins started to fill the air Cloud had gone to visit Griffin and his older brother to make sure they were safe. By this point Griffin and his older brother's parents had become absent in their lives and had already passed away shortly after the toxins started to fill the air. Cloud noticed that Griffin's older brother wasn't feeling very well so he started stopping by with whatever he could find in order to help. A few years before his death, Griffin's brother Taylor ended up becoming very ill. When the toxins went into the air that only made Taylor's bad health even worse. He ended up passing the day before Griffin's 20th birthday and Cloud will never forget the agony on Griffin's face when he found Griffin mourning over Taylor's body. Cloud ended up becoming a father despite never having any siblings himself. That and Cloud was considered the black sheep in his family due to his personality and that he was always taller than his cousins. His relatives are all pasty white in skin color so the fact that Cloud has a paler shade of African American skin color definitely points to the fact that Cloud's mother was with someone that the family never came to know. He's been trying to find links as to who his father was or is. Even though his father is most likely dead and gone, Cloud still holds out hope that he's somehow alive. Cloud was taken in by his one uncle, his mother's eldest brother, and his uncle's wife who was one of Cloud's aunts. After the toxins struck Cloud lost contact with his relatives so at this point he just assumes that they've all passed away. Some of them might still be alive out there but Cloud doesn't want to think about that so he can just focus on taking care of Griffin. Cloud and Griffin's collective book collections are one of their most prized collective possessions. For Cloud his absolute most prized possession is his earrings. They were a gift from Griffin's older brother for Cloud's sixteenth birthday.
