ANCIENT DEITY

ANCIENT

FEMALE

Solitude, Lonely Goddess

Solitude is caring and kind, but also harsh and has very strong opinions of her own. As she is immortal, she doesn't like to befriend mortals. Their lives feel short and meaningless to her, and while she tries to prevent suffering in those she feels are deserving, she is indifferent towards death. She has a calm, elegant and mature demeanor, and speaks softly but clearly.

Created in the image of the two gods, she was as lonely as they were. They, however, wished not to be reminded of their sadness and paid her no attention. She was given nothing, not even a name. She was the most powerful of their children, though, and used her powers to create a realm of her own; the moon Ait Suyn. Here she usually sits and daydreams, occasionally looking down upon the world below. She studies people, but doesn't wish to be near them, most of the time. She's lonely, but the one she wants to be with will never be with her again.

Her hair reflects light, subtly colourful, like the moon she made her throne. Many stories and songs are told about her, and a growing following makes shrines and statues in her honour. People believe her moon called Ait Suyn is a positive influence, and often direct prayers at it.

Extra Info

When she's not daydreaming, the goddess attempts to prevent some of the suffering in the world. Perhaps out of sympathy, or maybe to make up for what she did to Nyx. She soothes the worthy dying and relieves their pain, softly humming, until they fade away. She doesn't believe in reversing or preventing death, for all mortals are meant to die, but she wishes to make the journey less painful for those she deems worthy.

I shine soft light
in the deepest, darkest night
I am the lady of the ocean,
the shepherd of the seas
Come, and see
his shining light in me

Solitude and Nyx used to have a close relationship, as Nyx was (though to lesser extent, and for different reasons) a little outcast from the other deities. They found solace in one another, and would talk for hours as often as they quarreled. They shared many things, mostly wine, jokes, and dinners.
Solitude's relationship with Erebos was more of a romantic interest than sibling-like, though it never went much further than just interest. They were very close, and occasionally stole some moments to be alone together. Because of her neutral status, Solitude often visited both of them while they were exiled, while Nyx became increasingly distant and easily angered, making mean comments and trying to hurt her former friends.

Solitude was greatly affected by the murder of Erebos. In her grief, she cast a curse upon Nyx, attempting to condemn her to eternal suffering. While Nyx took it almost like a compliment, Solitude is not yet over what has happened, but keeps no grudge. She misses the days of their friendship, and most of all she misses Erebos.

She has made one exception to her personal rule about death; the priestess Diana, whose husband offered his life for hers. Solitude accepted, as she knew how he felt, and gave the young mother a new chance at life.
