Profile
Amerthelian
Amerthelian was born in Fratteian family and inherited appropriate appearance. However, she looks unusual for her background, because as can be seen in her marble-white skin and white hair, she is albino. And, along with it, has some vision problems and sensitivity to the bright sunlight. This phenomenon is considered to be a blessing among the adherents of the old faith, because albinism was inherent to the old goddess herself.
Amerthelian's facial features, physique and voice are androgynous, leaning more towards femininity than masculinity. But despite her being satisfied with her appearance, a certain amount of shyness comes from her surprising (to some) height, which goes far beyond the average. These features are the consequences of the tradition that the priestesses have practiced since the days of Elestheria. Formally, Amerthelian was a castrated child brought up as if she was born a girl. She is used to think about herself in that exact way.
Strict discipline of the monastery where she was raised encouraged health and good physical condition, and therefore, despite the seeming fragility, Amerthelian isn’t frail or sick. Though her condition also isn't very healthy: her albinism and surgical intervention's consequences affected her life seriously.
Amerthelian is an obvious phlegmatic. As a rule, she is calm, restrained and cold in communication. Impeccable knowledge of etiquette and iron discipline are natural for her.
Her insularity has deep roots. The main thing is that she lived in solitude almost all her life. She grew up in a specialized monastery, and even after becoming a cleric she was prevented from having contact with the outside world for a long time. Such a way of life has become habitual to her, and deviations from it are difficult for her - especially considering how much society has changed since the heyday of the Elestherian cult.
Amerthelian holds disgust for disgraceful, uneducated, stupid, immoral people; she is very intolerant of certain human vices. On this basis, and also because of some events, her intolerance has reached misanthropy and slight sadism.
Amerthelian has a "divine abnormality", a side effect of the Awakening metamorphosis. This effect is different for each person who is going through the metamorphosis, and reflects one of their main vices or virtues, magnifying it to some inhuman point. Amerthelian gained an abnormal narcissism and has an 'alter ego', whom she can interact with in her mind. Having gained such a strong connection with herself, she can hardly feel love for anyone else. Perhaps the only person who makes her regret this fact is Vespera, with whom Amerthelian managed to establish the maximum possible emotional connection.
She is responsible enough and takes her own words and actions seriously. Temple life gave her almost impeccable discipline; but in a broader sense, she still doesn’t like unpredictability and prefers to keep everything under control, considering this her privilege. Her self-esteem was originally slightly overestimated, what is common for clerics of Elestherian cult.
Her strong sides are a sharp mind and keen insight, as well as hidden cunning. She is able to make far-reaching plans and skillfully implement them. A closed temper can be misleading, but she has learned how to use her charm on people to get what she wants. Interacting with crowds and manipulating them does not present the problem for her. She is also a very stoical person.
Her weakness is rooted in her own fears: the fear of unforeseen circumstances and radical changes, as she is not as adaptable as she would like.
- Extreme curiosity and ambition sometimes outweighs her morality and even a sense of self-preservation.
- She always felt a strong interest in forbidden magic, and having the opportunity to discover it, she digged into this thing entirely. The amount of dark spells that this holy maiden knows, may hardly have been dreamt about by some witch.
- She is very intolerant of certain human vices, but may turn a blind eye to some sins of her followers, if they can compensate for them with devotional service and other merits. There are unexpectedly many people with a dark past among her knights and clerics.
