Summary: 

An eccentric biologist with little regard for the well-being of others. Enjoying the company of other humans, finding them fun and interesting - they do not actually dislike people. Grin doesn't prefer to be alone, and prefers some sort of distraction at all times. Grin jumps from project to project, person to person, keeping busy until exhausted enough to sleep (hopefully) dreamlessly. 

Grin is especially interested in human biology and knows the body inside and out, living and dead. They are not in the least bit squeamish, and have surprisingly little respect for life, they've killed purposefully in the past and have little to no regret. The thought of a patient dying is only a worry for a moment, as it might ruin a current project- but lead pretty quickly to another new project involving the remains. They are adept at medical science, having a lot of hands on experience with repairing and disassembling the body specifically. Saving lives is of little concern but they enjoy it for the sake of the “project”. And if it seems dull, they like to find ways to make it a little more creative. Why just do a typical surgery when you can try something completely new?

Grin is not beyond self experimentation and doing experiments on  unwilling/unknowing participants. Considering both necessary to their  scientific work, Grin has been near-death many a time and has some  strange afflictions due to their experiments.

Others often find Grin to be a bit much. Many see Grin as childish due to a mixture of their having no empathy, being highly distractible, spurts of manic energy, spastic nature, and no sense of shame. They are always poking into the business of others, curious about whatever seems to be the interest of others at the moment. Grin sees this as a friendly gesture- and likes to be involved in the projects of others. Inviting themself along, oblivious unless told very outright that they aren't welcome. Grin can also be a bit exhausting and overwhelming because of their hyperactive nature. Keeping up with them for a day would be a feat. Grin is often on the move, being  easily bored and distracted, they will move on to bother others/experiment with multiple projects/bebop around. Between projects, Grin will often suddenly crash, falling asleep suddenly and without warning. Their energy is a lightswitch ON and OFF. There's no slow down or build up. Those who spend enough time around Grin know this is typical expected behavior. If not up for Grin’s company, a solution might be waiting for Grin to fall asleep and part ways at that point.  

When consistently avoided by others, Grin can become irritable. More than becoming self conscious, it's a source of confusion for Grin. Being alone with their thoughts, slowing down and reflecting on what has actually happened /what's been done is something Grin tries to avoid at all costs. Convinced that facing their past will destroy them. 

Their workspace is often cluttered with projects, a chaotic mess of all their interests and hoarded materials. Despite this, Grin is fastidious in appearance and keeps their workspace clean in the sense that everything technically has a place and there is no blood/fluids/dirt to be seen. Grin cleaning up immediately after or at multiple points during a project is nearly guaranteed.  

Grin takes great care with their own finished projects and though there's always room for additions/improvement- They take pride in and hate to see their work destroyed. A surefire way to ask for death is to sabotage their projects. Accidents during creation happen all the time and can be forgiven, but they take it personally if something would happen to a perfected item. 

Having a soul bonded to their arm, Grin communicates with it/him when alone. No one but Grin can hear him, since they are the ones bonded. This takes their mind off of reflecting on their own thoughts. They call the soul Alonso, and he seems like he is/was a nice person. Sometimes when doing something a bit heartless or harmful to others, Alonso will appeal to Grin as a sort of conscious, urging them to reconsider. Grin will often argue their case and work through the issue- trying to understand. It doesn't always make sense to them, but they respect Alonso and know that this part of them keeps them “sane”. Very rarely Alonso has taken full control of the arm he is bonded to, refusing to let Grin do things they will both regret. 

Grin's past is a blur, memories pushed away to avoid the trauma. Grin has a surviving sister, but Grin has convinced themself that she died through a traumatic event they'd shared as children. This event affected Grin’s perception greatly and shaped their current self. Harper, their sister, cannot be seen or heard by Grin even now, a mental side effect of their failed childhood experiment. This could be feasibly worked past: Grin’s memory and perception rehabilitated, but Grin refuses to confront any past memories and chooses to live only in the present.
