Scarlett Bloom (AUs)

i am rethinking abt how i want the au refsheet to look and i could not be bothered to attach the swap au ref onto it right now. or maybe never. lol

a few aus have timeskips hence the past/present versions. also i. forgot to write it on reverse. im not changing it.

this will be organised eventually i just like to keep the old text for. no reason actually im just sentimental about it

ok small note about au refs, use the newest one if possible but for the rest feel free to use the one in the misc. tab!

edit put stuff under spoilers but formatting is a little messed up. :[ its a little less.. text wall-y though. fixing this later.

Canon alt outfits

Ghost (CW body horror, blood, gore)

• • Sort of a 'what-if' scenario where Scarlett gets killed during her first meeting with Jade 
  • She becomes a ghost and haunts Jade
  • Jade gradually becomes aware of the ghost, she doesn't recognise it as a ghost in the first place, but then realises no one else can see her
  • It wears her down
  • this au's pretty depressing
  • Design notes: Scarlett's head got crushed at death, so warning for that if you decide to look at her reference
  • She's grey and floaty, and her hair sort of breaks off into wisps
  • Normally she doesn't have pupils, but when agitated, ghost Scarlett will gain pupils, and the blood on her head gets messier. It becomes close to what she looked like when she died

  • As a ghost, Scarlett never feels like she's all 'there'. No one can see her (and neither can Jade for that matter), but Jade can definitely tell there's something there
  • She's just staying there out of spite actually
  • In the real world, she's what you'd expect of ghosts. Her form is never well defined, her appearance never consistent save for the gaping wound in her head, never really... there and simultaneously present
  • Through whatever reason, she's bound to Jade, and can walk in her dreams. There, it's like she was never dead, except for her crushed skull, constantly bleeding. There, she's fully lucid, and talks to Jade.
  • But is it really Scarlett talking, or just the memories that Jade has of her?
  • ---
  • (off the books tidbit which I don't think is relevant knowledge to the main story but) ghosts kinda work like parasites here, their existence is sustained by a host's magic, so they use a very small sliver of magic to continue existing
  • This amount of magic is usually negligible for 1 ghost, or 3, but once the numbers build up, the host starts to feel the impact. If the ghost takes more magic energy than the host can generate, they eventually just. lose the ability to do magic.
  • This also has side-effects on the host's generally well-being, usually resulting in them being exhausted
  • So that being said
  • Scarlett's been collecting all the ghosts of Jade's victims. She managed to get like 70+ ghosts before Jade died.
  • For whatever reason Scarlett works as an anchor for the other ghosts. (ghost lore is weird. wanted to make a down to earth feeling magic system and somehow that led to ghosts being a thing lol)

Modern

• • Scarlett's dad is a mob boss trying to groom Scarlett to become the next head of his gang, Scarlett's very resistant to this, so dad eventually leaves her alone
  • She meets up with Jade a lot earlier in this AU, and they date on and off
  • One day, a group of four students break into her dad's hideout, and she manages to catch one of the stragglers (it's Byrd)
  • Another two people (secret agents) also break into to investigate her dad
  • Yet another person also breaks in 
  • That's a lot of visitors
  • So what happens is that Byrd gets shot, all four of the students get taken to the hospital, dad is found dead, and Scarlett pretty much shuts down from all the stuff happening on that day
  • Anyways that's the 'story' part the rest of this AU is just Scarlett vibing but in a modern setting and I can draw her in modern clothing
  • This is a feel good au, (almost) no murder here

  • new lore aha i was supposed to write this but got distracted with the horror au haaaaaaaaaaaaah
  • yeah so modern au Scarlett's a theater kid. Loves to perform and act, helps out at the local theatre
  • onto the story ig
  • Scarlett's dad is still the shitty abusive dad he was originally, but gives up on trying to groom scarlett to take over his syndicate a lot earlier
  • Pretty early on, he kinda emotionally detached himself from her, speaking to her and punishing her only when she misbehaved at school
  • Her dad's reputation stuck to her, in a bad way. A lot of her classmates avoided her, and if anything bad happened to one of them, there'd be rumours that she was the one who ordered it.
  • (it certainly did not help when she hit her growth spurt)
  • So she was pretty lonely at school. Despite that, her grades were still pretty decent.
  • When Scarlett notices her dad bringing home another teen one day, she gets jealous, and corners the young teen in the hallway, accidentally nicking her head in the process
  • She later learns that the teen, Jade, had been plucked from her home after showing promising skills in magic. and in return, her father had forgiven her parents' debts. She feels a little sympathetic, but otherwise that's not really her problem, is it?
  • Regardless though, she hangs around Jade a lot more than she should have, and they eventually start dating in secret. Sometimes, her dad catches her and she gets a bruised face for the next few days, and Jade worriedly suggests that they stop meeting. But a few weeks later they're wrapped in each others' arms again.
  • (Scarlett notices her dad babying Jade so much more than her. It's a little unfair, she thinks)
    
  • Shortly before Scarlett turns 18, a series of events happen. A few students from her school break into her house (her dad's house, really) and she catches one of the stragglers, Byrd. The other teen had followed the initial group out of concern, but came too late to find them. Scarlett waves them off as a lost cause, but Byrd is insistent on finding them, despite the fact that they weren't really her friends (according to Byrd)
  • So they sneak around the house, hiding whenever someone passes by, and Scarlett is having fun, enjoying this little adventure, until they get to the foyer
  • -where Byrd gets shot, the gunman runs off, and Scarlett is stuck, frozen in fear as Byrd bleeds out from her wound.
  • Numbly, Scarlett manages to call an ambulance, and clumsily communicates that there might be 3 other of her classmates. It's an ordeal, the drying blood on her hands, the questions from the police, and she remembers vividly the pale skin of Byrd's face, her eyes dangerously closed.
  • And later, she's told of her father's death. Oddly, she thinks, this hits her so much less impactfully than seeing a virtual stranger, her classmate, bleed out in her arms. She doesn't care enough to ask who, quietly glad that he was gone.
    
  • Jade stops texting her. Coupled with the incident, this devastates Scarlett a lot more than it should have, but after months of no response, she gives up and blocks her number.
  • Life goes on. After the incident, Byrd recovers, and is less scared of Scarlett now. So at least, until their graduation, Scarlett has a friend to stick with through their final exams.
  • Skipping forwards years later, and Scarlett is doing just fine.
  • And one day, Jade, older and so far removed from the quiet teen she used to be, asks to meet up in a secluded place.

Reverse

• • Scarlett but her personality is reversed
  • (Unfortunately so is everyone else in this universe)
  • Very introverted, soft spoken, likes to let her actions do the speaking
  • Gets kidnapped and works for Etcher for a bit to research magic and do her dirty work
  • (Etcher's a jerk in this universe. lets just say that)
  • She eventually escapes with Jade, and they end up running an underground rebellion
  • GRAH new lore
  • Scarlett was brought into Cape co. at a young age after her father was strongarmed into joining
  • She was still learning magic under her dad as she grew up, while also quietly learning about the true nature of the company
  • Despite all their preparations to escape, Etcher caught wind of it. At 19, she had to watch her father die in front of her
  • (the only AU where she actually had a good relationship with her dad, and she wasn't even allowed to keep that)
  • Picking up the pieces of their failed escape plan, Scarlett restarted one anew, a lot slower, a lot quieter this time
  • Making her way up the ranks, she eventually became one of Etcher's enforcers, working very closely with Etcher, always by her side at every waking moment
  • One day, Etcher picks up someone new off the streets, and Scarlett is made to fight her, as a test of her skills
  • Well, that someone wiped her ass, and she was only able to get one hit on her opponent
  • With someone so much more skilled at magic than her, Scarlett had to expedite her plans. After all, once Etcher got her new toy, her old one might get discarded.
  • As Etcher focused her attention on her new recruit, Jade, Scarlett continued her own schemes.
  • She wasn't as careful as she thought, and Jade was very observant to her actions. They agree to work together to escape
  • and yeah they manage to do that, become vigilantes to fight against etcher's company, fall in love etc
  • -----
  • personality-wise, she's the complete opposite of canon scarlett. She's quiet, cold, careful with her phrases and says the right words at the right moment. Every movement, twitch or gesture is calculated, to draw the most empathy and the least ire from people around her.
  • She might have grown up to be a gentle person, but it's a little hard to do so under these conditions
  • Instead of fire, she prefers ice and water magic in this au. she used to make a bunch of ice sculptures with her dad, and continued doing so into adulthood.
